ok i have a 87 gxl and my stock suspension is shot i want to go with a stock shock setup with an after market springs but because it has the auto adjusting suspension do i have to get the same stock struts or can i use the stock mounts with a different shock/strut and i am not using the auto adjusting system it doesnt work anymore well thanx

 

Any shock/strut will fit, but you'll loose the auto adjustingness. Using stock shocks on aftermarket springs isn't a good idea, they're valved for stock springs, and as far as I know, all of the aftermarket springs are stiffer than stock. There are some reasonably priced alternatives though, and you don't need to go to an adjustable shock if the springs aren't that much stiffer, something like Tokico Blues would do the job.
