Arrow 265/40/17 on 17x9 ?

Is it possible to fit 265/40/17 on 9 inch rims? I currently have some 255/40/17 on right now but I need new tires so I found some Dunlops for a decent price but they're are the 265's...any suggestions...oh and the car is dropped a bit if this matters....thanks for all help..

The recommended rim width range varies from tire to tire. So you need to look at a tire spec sheet for the specific tire you want to see if it is recommended for use on a rim of a certain width. Tire Rack has the info for all the tires it sells. Tire manufacturers also have spec sheets on their web sites.

Here is a 265/40-17 tire that will fit on a 17x9" rim: http://tinyurl.com/eg7gl

I think you will find that most 265/40-17 tires will work on a 9" wide rim.

Now it is your turn to answer the next thread like this.

I have the Dunlop Direzzas mounted on my 17s. 17x8 with 235/45 up front and 17x9 with 265/40 on the rear. Got mine from Tirerack.

Here's mine. 34 or 35 offset on my FC.

They were a bitch to put on, but the tires also have very stiff sidewalls, that only added to the difficulty of putting them on. THey look nice and flush and flat and don't have that drag look that 275's give.(for FC's).
