right on, you cannot use the calculated numbers all the time, especially to fuel an internet argument!!!!! some mfg'ers will grossly under rate their tire widths or aspect ratio (sidewall)... so you dont know what it will measure out to unless the tire is right in front of you.

Thnx, we rane out of time the day we got the tires installed, by the time we made it to the car was after 5 already and the garage owner (where the RX is stored)didn't let us do anything, so it'll have be sometimes end of this week or early next week.

Thanks for the complements! The "Great kid" is made in the USA... The three piece forged Work "nice wheels" are made in Japan.... The Pirelli P Zero Rosso 235/40/18 and 285/35/18 "wicked tires" are made in Italy!!!

We have the United Nations here!

The shots of the car are coming before and after....

Stay tuned!

Thanks Gene...

I went with this type of wheel because I thought it would be a classic, yet timeless design to be on the FD....

Oh and the fam..... Thanks

Today I went to the storage where my car is, to start it and let it run for awhile... I then went to Bed Bath and Beyond to buy a digital scale to weigh my new rims and tires...

The combined weight for the front rims and tires (18X8)(235/40/18) are 47 lbs.

The combined weight for the rear rims and tires (18X10)(285/35/18) are 52 lbs.

Is this to heavy or is this the average combined weight for 18 inch rims and tires?

Fairly heavy for FD wheels, but not heavy compared to the typical 18" combo out there. As a comparison, my Enkei RP-01s with Toyo T1-S in 18x8.5 235/40 and 18x9.5 265/35 weigh 42 and 45 lbs, respectively.

Can't believe after this whole thread you bought 285/35's, but whatever, I hope it works out for you!

Those weight look to be about average. IIRC, a 285-30-18 S02 is about 26 lbs. which equals 26 lb wheel. Looking at at Toyo's site a 235-40-18 is 23 lbs = 24 lb wheel. Of course, tire weights are highly variable as well as Bed Bath & Beyond scales

What brand of tires?

The title was 295/35/18... The height of that tire was too tall, 26.1 inches....
The 285/30/18 that some of you recommended here was 25.2 inches...
On perfect roads this tire is best....

I decided to go 285/35/18 = 25.7 inches high, at least when I hit a New York pot hole, the rim wont bend to bad!
