1st generation wheels size change
1st generation wheels size change
HELP !!!!! I am wanting to change the wheel size of my first generation RX7--1984 GSL-- wheels are currently a 13" -- and are oem on my car.......I am having a difficult time finding a replacement that is a 4 x 110 bolt pattern and what size-- 15" or 16" to put on instead.....what have some of you guys used and how did it work??????? HELP
I had an 82 GSL. Aftermarket rims are difficult to find in the 4X110 pattern. I went with a set of Enkie (spelling?) 15X7 rims. With 195/50/15 tires, you will have no problems with rubbing.
My car was slightly lowered, and I had 205/50/15 tires. There was no problem in the rear, but the fronts would have rubbed. I slotted the strut tower holes so that I could slide the top of the strut in a little. I also took a hammer, and pounded the inside of the wheel well to make a little more room where the spring perch would hit the fender well when it was slid inward. I only pounded in about 1/4 inch where it would have rubbed.
If you do all that, you should be OK. You may still have to bend back the inside of the fender lip a little.
Good luck, Adam
