185-70-13 performance tires?

I'm having trouble finding performance tires that fit my factory FB wheels. I'm in no rush as I'm only looking as of right now, but I'd like to get something a little more performance oriented than the all season tires. I've checked discount tire, tirerack, vulcan tire, tires plus and some others.

This looks like the most promising tire... http://www.vulcantire.com/cgi-bin/ti...umicgt_h_t.htm

Anyone know of any?

On stock wheels, I used to run Sumitomo HTR 200s 205/60/13. They fit great, and the speedo is almost correct with that size. Might read just a bit higher than you are actually travelling.

Later, when I moved up to 13x8" wheels, I started using the same tire in 215/50/13.

The Sumitomo HTR 200 is cheap at about $50.00 each, but perform very well. I often beat Miatas on Hoosiers during autocrosses using these tires.

that looks good, but The 20560/13 is about 5 lbs heavier than the 185/70/13. How much of a difference does that make to an FB? 5 Lbs would be alot for my miata (which I happen to autox )

I think that any weight penalty that I saw with the wider tire was offset by the slightly lower gearing that the smaller profile provides. Then, add the benefit of a larger contact patch and I think that overall I'm better off...
