18" SSR Comps - anyone have pics of 'em and what's the downside?

Title pretty much says it all.

I've seen a few of you guys running 17s, but not 18s. Is the lower profile tire required to run 18s going to be detrimental to the safety of the rim? Esp., given the reputation the comps already have.

I have 17" comps on my Audi, and though we've only had it a week now, it's handled some nasty bumps on the freeways in Alabama and Mississippi and some horrible potholes in Austin all without a glitch. So I'm thinking I might take my chances...but maybe not with 18s.

Thanks,

bump.

Still wondering about the sizing on these. I've yet to see anyone (that I can find) on the board that has 18" SSR Comps., but quite a few that have 17s.

Is it just the weight factor, or is there something else?

Word circulating in the Miata community is that the SSR Comps are easy to bend.

Then again, it's hard to convey exactly how bad a pothole was (no official pothole scale I'm aware of hehe) and Miata drivers may simply be bad drivers.

I can say I had a late '90s SSR 18" wheel (the original Decolte 3 piece) and one rim had a slight dent from a 'medium' pot hole. It was very light for a 3-piece, and I do know current SSR 3-piece wheels have put on weight since then. (not neccesarily saying they are stronger)
