17x9 on the front?

OK, I've put a couple 17x10 Fikse FM-5s on the back of my R1 but I don't have the front wheels yets. Fikse's "standard" size for the front of a FD is a 17x8.5 wheel but I remember guys saying that a 17x9" with 45mm offset will fit the front with 255/40/17 tire without rubbing. Is this true?

Fikse will build whatever I want so I'd like to get the biggest tire up front that I can.

My car is slightly lowered with Eibach springs on GAB R shocks.

If anyone has some pics that'd be great!

Thanks,
Jeff

Look at last post...https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=123237

9 x 17, 45-mm offset with 255/40-17 with stock style springs has been a consensus fitment for some time now...

FWIW you can fit 9.5 x 17 with 50.8-mm offset with 255/40-17 tires up front. Don't go taller though, or you'll rub. 255/40-17 is probably the widest road tire you can fit at the front wheel positions, presuming that you have stock style 4-inch outer diameter springs.

As mentioned on my post, I've fitted 275/40-17 Hoosier R3S03s up front, but those are racing tires, and they come in shorter overall diameters than road tires due to the racing tire's shallower tread depths. Hoosier 275/40-17s are 25.3 inches tall. Typical road tires in 255/40-17 are 25 to 25.2 inches in overall diameter. Typical 275/40-17 road tires are 25.7 inches in overall diameter, clearly too tall to fit up front.

Let me know if you're interested in finding out your club deal on the Fikse if you're interested. This is a fitment we have done and know.

Thanks, Rishie
