17" on a '79?
I have a set of 17" x 7" wheels that i was planning on putting on a '85 gsl-se. the offset is +40. tires will be 205/40/17.
i am wondering if they would also fit on a '79. i would have to use spacers, to change the 4x110 to 4x114.3, so they would stick out a little further which would probably help with the suspension rubbing issue, but what about the fender, the well, etc. anyone know if it may rub without rolling the fenders at all?
the car at this moment is not lowered, although it will be. anyone?

17x7 offset 40mm w/ 205/40-17 shoudl fit the GSL-SE setup just fine..
the 79s have the same wheel well space, but you'll need to do a suspension swap.. Stock I think they came with a ~25mm offset and obviously a different bolt pattern.
being said, they fit just fine on an -SE, but any further out and you'll definately rub on the front fenders... rear ya have plenty of space.
