SAFC help

Hey All..

I dont drive an FD.. or an FC (sucks eh?)

but i do drive a ford escort with a 1.8L dohc mazda bp swap.

I have an SAFC wired into my ecu via breakaway harness.

now... my question..
for some damn reason.. i cant get my SAFC rpm metering to go with my factory tach reading.

when im idling cold.. i'll idle 1300.. safc will not read below 2000...

once i warm up.. i idle around 750-800.. SAFC will STILL not go below 2000 rpm

while driving around? it reads dead on accurate untill im back sitting at idle.. and then, again, the safc rpm will not drop below 2000rpm

i've got it set to 1 cyl right up arrow like it says according to the safc manual.

i've also tried every other known combo..

and the closest accurate setting is 1 cyl right up arrow.

and it reads perfect.. except under 2000rpm.

Im afraid to tune because of this variation, because im scared im not getting accurate rpm readout at the safc, and it might affect tuning.
