GT42R Kit(any questions ask in here)

GT42R Kit

This kit includes

GT42R turbo 94 or 102mm
Stainless manifold 4" stainless DP
Wastegate 44,50,60mm
Stainless oil feed
oil drain
oil fittings
waterlines
water fittings
Blockoff plates
Gaskets
V-band connector for compressor outlet.
V-band connection for midpipe. *must be welded locally.
New thermostat housing.

*Manifold and DP are warrantied for as long as you own it.

This kit is great for those who want to make big power 500+whp, and Wow people with their huge turbo. It is not for a stock ported motor. This is for someone wanting a drag oriented setup. With that said it still spools rather quick. We have seen 1bar@3800rpms with a 1.15 turbine housing on a decent sized streetport. With all the right things in place 600whp can be had. This means race fuel, proper porting, ignition and tune.

what do you recommend is the best for a 13B

74 or 76 version?

onefastrx7 09-29-05 07:10 PM

600whp on race gas? I thought they make 530-550whp on pump gas at 15psi?

kabooski 09-29-05 07:14 PM

only if you build a setup like Marcos
or Ralph @ excessive

its all about the "setup"
not just the turbo kit

what is so special on their setup? half bridge?

BOOSTD 7 09-29-05 09:02 PM

Tony up at Tri-State in New York is running on of these on his gorgeous burgundy 1st gen. That car has a 1/2 bridge, and makes well over 600 at the wheels ... I think like 630, and runs mid 9's (not back-halved). On his car there was VERY LITTLE lag, it came on hard and fast.

cripsR6 09-29-05 09:04 PM

How much for a kit through the groupbuy? Also, how long of a wait would it be?

Ralph has made over 600 with his on a street port and pump gas. On race gas and high boost I think the best he did was like 730 at the wheels. There's also a guy from Denver with the Orange FD that ran last year on the NHRA Circuit. He also does around 730 on a street port and runs low 9's in a full-body IRS FD.

all using T6 frame housings?

any benefit opting for a T4 foot print turbine housing ?

I just got my A-Spec GT42R kit and must say its all thats advertised and more! Sean did an excellent job on the manifold. Very nice kit. My car should be completed within 2 weeks including dyno tuning at 30psi so stay tuned for more results. I highly recommend Sean. He will go out of his way to answer all and any of your questions and help in any way.

630rwhp at what boost and what gas?

onefastrx7 09-30-05 12:09 AM

Zero R,

can you , please, post any dynocharts with boost settings and ports?

I think that would depend on what level of build your going for. But for the most part if you plot it out the smaller one is fine for a little more than 3bar with 9k rpm. And you don't have to worry about surge at lower RPM. If all is good and my math holds true that puts you way up in the 600whp range. I would leave the larger one for 20B's and Bridge ported or C-ported motors. With the 74 you will have 1bar by around 3600 rpms. On my car I have it set up with 2" primaries, T6, Full 5" exhaust running a 1.01 housing. I have no doubt it will be able to spool up quick.

I will be getting dyno charts and such up as they come. There will be a section here just for that purpose.

I try and stay away from group buys, I have a hard enough time keeping up with what I have on order and with Garrett somtimes not meeting demand. I would hate to have people mad at me more often.

I prefer the T6, I think Magnus prefers the T4. What I like with the T6 is it mates perfectly with 2" primaries no need to step it down. So when you run big exhaust ports it all mates up nice. Your only real restriction is then the turbine itself.

I totally understand about the chaos. I misunderstood this forum for being a groupbuy one, when its a Vendor/groupbuy forum.

kabooski 10-04-05 05:30 PM

I held a T6 housing
this past weekend

a 1.15 A/R

and boy is that thing heavy
any manifold would have to braced real well

True! the T6 split inlet looks real NICE!
looks like it would flow and pretty much match the size of the exhaust ports/2" runners like you said

CCarlisi 10-10-05 11:00 PM

Do you have any pictures that you can post of the 42R mounted in an FD engine bay aside from the small pics on your website? A turbo that big deserves more resolution!

Zero R 10-11-05 09:57 AM

Agreed! Will do just need to get some taken.

sk8world 10-11-05 08:34 PM

CAn this 42r sit on a T4? Or is that too small? I guess I would have to sell my complete kit before I could buy the 42r kit. Pm me a price.. Mike

Zero R 10-12-05 10:30 AM

They can come with a T4 footprint. I don't like it much. I know it wont fit on the manifold your thinking of ;) I will get a price together for you.

i think my bearings in my twins are shot and im looking for a nice big turbo to use with my pettit street port and then when i go 20b use the turbo with that hopefully with little to no modification...? the reason is theres only 20k miles on my motor and i dont really want to rip it apart. i'll probably sell it when i have enough for the 20b project.

i was originally thinking about a t76

would this be good on a 20b? how much power should i expect on pump 91 or 93, and race gas. i'll probably try to get dee to do most of this for me.

Zero R 10-26-05 06:44 PM

42R's are fine on 20B's keep an eye on Paximus's car. He has one on his 20B should be dynoed soon.
