%$#$#^%$#&$@. Im pissed. I went to put the turbo in and the water feed and water return lines dont work. No Modifications my ***. If you have to bend the hard lines to make it work, I would call that a modification. The feed line is about 1 inch from the lim port, the return line hits the engine block, WTF. Im just going to have to cut the stock water feed hard line and put a high temp hose in between the cut. The return will have to be bent so it doesnt hit the block. Bad day

 

Finagle's law, hard at work, I'm afraid. Check with the manufacturer, make sure nothing's screwy?

 

I couldnt believe he told me to bend the lines, hard lines dont bend good, they kink. Not for me, maybe for shadetree mechaincs. I'll do it the right way. Just more work I hadnt planned on.

Well I thought all was good to go. I went to bolt the turbo back on the manifold and the upper flange doesnt touch the gasket due to the bigger compressor hitting the lower intake. I tried to loosen all the LIM bolts and shift it to the front of the car, didnt work. I can see where BNR ground down some areas for clearance, but no where near enough. Ive taken the turbo out more than 20 times. Pretty easy now, but I want to leave it in there. Time to grind. I almost wonder if I got someone elses turbo.

I ground down the compressor housing where it was hitting the LIM and finaly got it so when I torque the turbo down, I can fit 2 pieces of paper between the two. I got all the oil and water lines put on the turbo. I will finish intercooler piping and fill with oil and coolant tomorrow. Program Rtek and start.

 

It's giving you a hard time Allan but you know that it's worth it. Won't be long before you feel that turbo spool up.

Car started first time, and it sounded so smooth. I started checking for leaks and soon found a coolant leak. Well, it turned out to be the rear LIM coolant o-ring. I had to remove everything to get to it. Im going to get a beafier o-rings and put it back together.

Took her for a drive today and I see that the water temps on my autometer gauge look right 179f but my rtek reads 150 f. Maybe I still have air in my system? I also noticed my vacuum is low 10-12hg, so I think I have a vac leak somewhere. Ran good otherwise, I havent gone into boost yet.

 

Good deal, I know that it will feel great when you do boost her up. You got me motivated, I started on my next project yesterday.

 

Well, Ive tried to find the vac leak with carb cleaner and couldnt find it. The 7 is running but has low idel and low vac and when I go into boost it will only get to 6 psi. PIMA.. Need help!

 

I built a pressure tester, so I can test the intake for leaks. Hope I find it.
