Visiting Austin
Visiting Austin
I just landed around 6PM tonight and it was raining. Im with my wife and our 5 month old daughter. First timers here and we are pretty impressed with how nice people are. We went to do a lil grocery at HEB off 183 and Braker and people are so nice including the cashiers. I dont know how long this rain is going to last since we only have less than 5 days to tour the good areas of Austin. Tomorrow we are planning to tour the Southwest Austin particularly the Circle C neighborhood..
Also does anyone know a good place to eat BBQ in Austin?...

y'all planning a move?
Rudy's is good for anytime, I'd also recommend County Line, it's about 15 minute drive from 183&Braker, but Salt Lick is a classic. It's WAY southwest, almost an hour drive from north Austin, but the beef ribs (only on Sunday) make it worth it.

j_tso- No we aint planning to move yet..maybe someday..We have been planning to come visit Austin for more than a year now and we finally found the time to come. Its still foggy and raining on and off outside. But time is of the essense for us so we just have to dodge and rain no matter what. Im also planning to drive the family to San Antonio to go check out the ALAMO.
Anyone live in the Southwest Austin 78739- 48- 49 area??..

Well today we went to the Alamo and what and amazing place. So much history!..
Its a pretty cool place and their system is pretty organized not to mention free entrance. Then after getting a suggestion from one of the Alamo guards we went to Market Square and ate at Mi Tierra. Me and my wife had the Fajita. I must say that it was the best Fajita i have ever eatten. Seems like everything meat here in TX is better than what we have in California. Im loving the food, the city of Austin and SA, and the people.. Now im a new LONGHORN fan and my new fav color is orange!...lol

Definately go to the Salt Lick if you have the time. It's far and away my favorite place to get BBQ, on top of which I was watching a travel channel TV special the other day that actually rated it #1 in the country

Well i've been back to LA for a while now but to summarize my experience with Austin, it is a very nice place to live. Fat list you say??.. surprisingly we thought people there are more fit than people here in LA. Texans seems to love to walk especially stroll at park trails. Traffic jams are nothing compare to what we experience here in LA. Drivers are more considerate there. For BBQ we had Rudy's and Salt Lick.....SL was the best!!!!! i love how they have pits inside the restaurant.........
Hi, i saw a house in east austin 78721. I heard east austin has some bad reputation when it comes to Austin real estate. Is east austin really that bad of a neighborhood. I found a fixer upper home on E MLK JR near Airport Blvd just west of the golf course. Does anyone know or live around this neighborhood? Is east Austin going thru gentrification..
Austin is on the healthy list... Houston on the other hand...
Anyway, yes the East side is Austin's "bad" side. higher crime, etc. But yes, many parts are undergoing gentrification, so if you find the right spot, the property value is only going to increase. Anything East of I35 but still close to downtown will only increase in value.
That particular spot isn't that bad, but the problem is there are other very close areas which are worse and you find the most crime (theft) in decent neighborhoods that are next to slums. Personally, having grown up in Austin, I wouldn't want to keep my nice car in that part of town.

Lol you should go to Waikiki...pros...business cards and all. Funny as hell to watch the Japanese tourist get all flustered when deadly women talk to them. Now I see where the nosebleed cartoons comes from.
