Hey Ian, It was nice meeting you. I hope you had fun at the track. Too bad they couldn't put me as your instructor. At least I hope you had fun when I drove your car. Jon Drake timed me at the track and said that I was running consistant 2:26-2:27 per lap. Steve Hill's White Porsche GT3-RS was running 2:25-2:26 so I'm only 1 sec slower than him. But again, his brake option cost more than my car. LOL. Anyways, I need brake pads and rotors (they are wrapped) for my car. Hopefully, i can catch up to him next time around. If you like this kind of stuff, Driversedge is having another track event at Eagles Canyon. It's an awesome track with plenty of elevation changes. Just make sure you have good brakes though since every braking zone is downhill.
If you have any questions about your car or setup, feel free to contact me.

Yes that was me. The gate guard told me spectators had to park out on the grass. if I hadn't mentioned the word 'spectator' I probably could have driven on in and parked on real pavement.
That was my first time out to MSR, about 130 miles R.T. from Dallas. I'm interested in HPDEs but my car needs chassis work first. Brake kit is in the garage, I need new (poly) rear diff and trailing arm bushings, and some coilovers. The previous owner lowered the front end too much and my tires are chewing up the fender lips (and vice versa). I need better tires and/or a second set of wheels as well.
It's only money, money I don't have right now.
It was cool watching the 7s out there, they look incredibly small on track, even the Elise/Exige cars looked bigger.
And that GT3 was awesome...

Ya, I'm glad that you were able to make it out. I tried chasing the GT3 RS but he was way too fast. Every time when there is traffic, he would leave me and I had to wait to go by and he was gone by the time I get clear of the traffic. Besides, he is a professional GT1 Porsche racer so he's up there in the food chain..... I'm just glad that I'm only within 1 sec from his best time.
If I have P/S, Power brakes and ABS, I could have caught up to him but my car is pretty basic with no Power assisted anything.

I've been working on my brakes since the event.. I realized my shop put my rotors on backwards against the natural airflow. I also got some true race pads for the fronts. Also a 929 master cylinder on the way
I signed up for the October 4th and 5th TWS event since it is closer to Austin. I'd like to go sooner, but I'm taking a new job, moving, and other expenses (like working on the car) are keeping me from it..
I intend to participate in regular events, maybe 4 to 6 times per year if possible.
I saw that RED LS1 outside the gate, lol... I really wanted to check out an LS1 while I was there, but never got the chance to see the blue one that was actually on track.

I sent you a PM - I'm using the Pettit Racing Kit.. Which is Outlawz calipers (made by Willwood) and big 13" rotors.
I'd get RB if buying new, but i picked this kit up used and rebuilt the calipers myself.
Steve was able to fade my brakes, but I'm 100% sure that is due to pads.

Hey I was thinking about what you said about the rear on my car.. Would a real wing help?

Ian,
LOL, I know the FD at the track pretty well and knows its limits at the track.
A functional rear spoiler will definately help at high speed turn in. I think your problem isn't stability of the rear but rather too much toe-in making it feel too sensitive/unstable. Fix that and go from there.

I saw some emails back and forth from the Porsche instructor showing this photo to one of his co-worker. He said that his co-worker told him he couldn't believe how cocky the ferrari guy was passing two cars in reverse. LOL
