Smog Check in Texas?

^^So Older cars aren't really in jeopardy, Not like here in Cali??
I'm not talking about taking the Cats off or whatever....We are just interested in stringent smog requirements like here in SoCal

It also may vary by county. Here up in Humboldt,CA you only have to smog to transfer ownership. They also only do the sniffer test.
My exp is I took my 7 to the dealership and they said I need some $300 part. I figure it did need the part but would still pass the sniffer test. I then took it to Joe blow smog shop and he said it passed the sniffer and I was smogged. Cost less to!
So what I'm trying to say is it depends on where you take the car to smog and what county.

An associate is moving to Sugarland area and He has an older Previa and for some reason thinks that emmission could be MORE stringent in Texas than in Cali. While they were on the phone I was trying to get a quick answer, and that is why I didn't elaborate until now.
But Yeah, I can't see Sugarland being a strict smog requirement like LA proper....

in harris county (houston area) we have to pass emissions if the car is less that 25 years old. they generally don't do a sniffer since they have the machine to handle all of that.
ours is on the dyno and they pull at two different loads. one up to 1500 rmps and one up to 3000 IIRC.

CA just keeps getting worse and worse about it. SD county got a half million dollar grant to find "illegal street racing cars". they are doing this all under the false pretense they will save lies. we all know thats bullshit they need to generate revenue and this is one way. uh why dont you take that half million dollars to idk build/support local tracks to really truly save lives.
Just like when they put in the red light cameras under the "pretense" that they would deter red light runners and prevent accidents. A study done at the time found that if they increased the yellow light time by 1-2 seconds, it would have a greater positive effect in that regard...but as that wouldn't make money, we got the cameras instead. And on top of that, some areas actually decreased the yellow light time by a second to catch more people. I think they had to reverse that one though...

All the police do here at our meets is ask us who has the fastest car then tell us they don't mind us gathering as long as we don't act like the Trans Am guys, doing burnouts and racing up and down the streets.

right thats a common sense solution to the problem but they dont care about solving the problem they want to generate revenue.
houston has an event from time to time that is held at a local track, but is ran heads-up style to seem more like street racing. they always invite the cops to go out, but they only bring their personal vehicles and not their cruisers. i have always wanted to stomp on a cop car.

lol too bad cops out here arent like that. they have been known to roll through car shows write down plate numbers and then sit outside the gates to pull the person over and impound the car once the car has left private property. is that illegaL? HELL YES but that doesnt stop them.

there aren't many counties that acctually do the testing in texas, makes owning a 7 much easier...the only thing that most people check for, if even this, is the cat. i've never gotten smogged nor have i ever smogged any cars since ive been doing state inspections

This test uses a dynamometer, which measures emissions under simulated driving conditions. In a sense, it's like a treadmill stress test for your vehicle. This tailpipe test is a cost-effective way to get very accurate, realistic results. A vehicle will fail the test if there is an excessive amount of Hydrocarbon, Carbon Monoxide or Oxides of Nitrogen.
Please note that 4 wheel drive vehicles will continue to receive the current Two-Speed Idle test. If your vehicle fails the ASM test, you can return to the same public inspection station within 15 days of your initial test for a free retest.
