New to Texas - Austin

My wife and I just relocated from Iowa to Kyle, TX. I accepeted a Governement IT job and am working in downtown Austin now.

Couple quick questions.

1) What's the legal limit on front window tint? My Saab has 15% currently.
2) Is there a front license plate rule?
3) Any Austin/Central Texas specific car forums around?

And holy crap. I can't believe how many Mustangs, Surburbans and F250s with lift kits I've seen down here my first week.

Also, I will also be returning to the FD market within the year now that I am in a year round warm environment. I even have the extra garage all ready for it

Thanks y'all!

stop on by www.texasrxs.org, we've got a forum there but it's a little slow, plus you can get info on the club while you're at it.
there is a front license plate law but it's not a big deal iun Austin as we have no tollbooths yet (i;e Houston, Dallas etc.) so it's really up to the local police as far as enforcement.
On tint it depends on the car, some older cars can have as dark as 5% on all windows minus the drive and passenger sides, some newer cars they're a little stricter. Any reputable tint shop can help you out on that, if you need some references let me know. I'd recommend staying away from texasracingscene unless you like being trollbait, there's guys on there whose whole life seems to revolve around starting **** with people over nothing lol Welcome to Austin, there's a lot to do here, lots of clubs etc. I'd also recommend checking out www.hillcountrydrives.com as we meet with them once a month and there's usually 50+ cars at each event.

Looks like a nice place... if that's the neighborhood I think it is, and you see a "suspicious" Miata driving around taking pictures it's probably just me shooting comps.

Thanks for the input guys. I just got rid of my Saab and was considering another RX7, but went for something a bit different.

Now you have something to tow an FD with when it is not running

And besides, if you live in Texas and don't own a truck, you just don't fit in.

Ain't that the truth! I see so many F250s with huge lifts daily it's sickening!

I was born here and the only "truck" I own (which I don't really own) is a '69 Ford Econoline.

Chris are you a realtor, or an appraiser? I used to be a realtor up until the first of the year, gave it up for my own home improvement business.

Appraiser.

And of course, I get to be the guy to drive to Kyle, Hutto, and Jarrell... sometimes in the same day.
(that may not mean much to somebody from DFW or Houston, but that's a lot of drivin' for Austin)
