Need some local info in area near Houston
Hey guys,
My GF and I have an overnight layover in Houston, Texas. So we are going to stay in a motel 6 near the George Bush International airport. The address is 15319 Highway 59 N, Humble, TX 77396-2134.
Now is that area Ghetto? I mean I don't want to stay in place where there's hookers, crack dealers or gangbangers in the vicinity.
Can someone please provide some feedback or suggestions on where to stay? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
M-

There isn't much happening at that corner, at least business wise. Pretty bare stretch of 59 there. Don't know about the neighborhood behind it. Definitely not upscale, but we have much worse if you need recommendations.
If you are really concerned, I would stay a little closer to the airport. That motel is a good 4 or 5 miles from the terminals. Were you going to take a taxi there? Might just put the extra buck towards a hotel closer to the airport. You'll have a shuttle too.

For hotels, use Yahoo Yellow Pages:
http://yp.yahoo.com/
Do a search for 'hotels', location 'iah' in 'Houston, TX'. IAH is Bush Intercontinental Airport. There are a bunch of hotels on JFK Blvd and Beltway 8, which is just outside the airport. I stayed at one of them a long time ago, when my flight was canceled. That corner is all commercial, no residential - you will likely not find any bums wondering around. Easy access to the airport, and all likely offer shuttle service.
