Might be moving to Houston...

Well as the title says, I might be going to school there and would like to get an idea of what its like living there? Is rent affordable? any of you locals got a room for rent? lol I have a few addresses would you guys be able to tell me if its a decent place? Maybe suggest places.
Its not set in stone or anything yet but it looks very likely.

It is very hot in summer and mild winter.
Cheapest and largest variety of good foods in the USA.
Housing costs are low compared to most of the USA.

You can get a pretty decent all bills paid apt in the Southwst for 600-700...

My S.O. is from upstate NY, so she might be able to address any particular concerns regarding the culture shock.
