ls1 rexs in houston area?
Are there any shops or people that are knowledgable about the swap in this area. I'm considering doing it but don't really have the know how to undertake something like this quite yet.

Might PM twokrx7, he is in the process of doing a V8 swap. I beleive there is another local doing the same thing.
There are a couple of them running around town, but noone that I know of that uses the forums.

I ran into a red fd on westheimer one time awhile back when I had my srt-4, he kinda punched it on me and it took me a min. to figure out what just had happened. I'll try pming the one guy though.

Are you doing an FC or an FD engine swap?
I've toyed with the idea of a convertible LS1 swap.

FD. In the mid-90's did the full bolt-on setup with stock motor and twins, then later fell prey to the single turbo temptation, the tuning bug bit me once the Datalogit came out, now the LS1 has stolen the car from me for a year+ and counting. After screwing up a perfectly good car multiple times it's now time to do the same once again but with an LS1 this time round. At least I get to work on running third gen Rx7s from time to time so I'm reminded that the cars can be driven when there's a running motor under the hood. I still love the third gens and all that is rotary.

It was time to try something new, I'm a sucker for a big fun challenging project I guess.
Thought about alot of other cars to start modding but the look and the driving experience of the third gen keeps me coming back to it. If I had the garage space and a supportive spouse I would still have a turbo rotary third gen in addition to my LS1 cancer.

Yeah, it tough being a “car guy”; I mean one day I love the cars I have the next day I want to sell and buy something different. Right now I’m torn between trading in my 2004 A4 and getting the new RS3 (if it comes to the states) or just keep the A4, sell the RX-7 and save some money to buy a Porsche 993 turbo. I just love the look and performance of the 993’s. Today I’m leaning towards the 993 (because I saw one on the way to work this morning).

Thanks for the offer but I have always liked doing the work myself, my biggest problem is that I constantly take on new projects and consequently it takes awhile to finish the big ones. I almost finished the incabin wiring yesterday. I'm making it pretty tidy with no excess wire runs and multipin connectors so I will be able to just unplug a few connectors and pull the LS1 ecu/harness when the need arises.
