Louisiana help!!!!

The car I am getting needs some carb help. Anyone can help me with this? Anyone know Freddie's number? I am going get the car Saturday on a trailer. Since it is on the trailer I can bring it to Freddie and see if he can fix it. I might just order a new sidedraft set up and let him put that on for me. Anyone that can offer assistants please do. Thanks, Josh.

Thanks for the bump man, I will try and call Chris and see if he has his number. I am getting ready to buy a weber side draft set up. That's if things go like I want them to. But of coarse they never do.lol Hope to see your car too. Hopefully, if our raising of freshwater crawfish goes well, we can have a huge crawfish boil. That just might have to wait till next year though. lol We do need to get a meet at the lakefront going, hopefully a day meet. Later, Josh.

Well if ya'll want a project car along with the motors and tranny ya'll can have it. They have some rust I dont have time to fix. I will give yall all the parts and stuff along with a clean title. Just was wondering. I am going to get a weber sidedraft for the car so I know it will work. Do ya'll do carb tunning? I will try and call next week if I have some time off. Just let me know about the car. Thanks, Josh.

Which Weber carb? When playing with 1st gens my best friend (weber 48 ida) and I (mikuni 44phh) played around with them and found the Racing Beat recommendations to work best for jet sizes, venturi's, etc. Wish we had wide bands back then. Best things is, if you screw up it won't eat apex seals like a turbo rotary.

RB doesn't give any recs for that carb. Did it come off of a rotary engine? Which manifold (u-shaped or straight runners)? If from a rotary, it's probably a Lake Cities or Rotary Engineering set-up. They are hard to come by but the Weber 48IDA would be my choice other than FI.

$650 for used!! I should have kept my old stuff and sold it for more than paid. My Mukini was $420 new. First RB exhaust I got was a single path one for $375, than a dual path street port exhaust for about $550 about 10 yrs later.

I should also mention the RB timing recs were right on also. Back in the 80's/early 90's the small rotary crew in New Orleans all played with their settings and would go back to their recs for best running. Everything was sit of the pants, reading plugs back then.

Is your header dual path (road race header) or do the primaries merge before the header's rear flange? This will affect where you can put the wide band O2 sensor. The sensor needs to be placed where the exhaust is single path. I'd recommend a system with long primaries.

You mention having a GSL-SE with 12A engine in another thread. Is it grey with grey interior? If so, probably my old car.

We need to get together for some discussion. If the Clean85 needs a Mukuni manual, tell him I've still got one plus some spare needle and seats.

I'd love to set-up a 13B streetported FB with FI like a Haltech.

Well, it turns out I might have a one rotar motor. I need to get a compression test done but I don't know if i can make it out to Freddie's shop. Does anybody know a closer place that does the compression testing? I am not going to get the carb set up. I am just going to save so I can swap for a Turbo II motor. Jonathan I will try and call this week, should I speek with you or Freddie. Hopefully by the time I get the motor ya'll will be able to take my car and swap it for me. If you know anybody out closer my way that can do it or at least help, I have an engine lift here. My main concern is getting the compression test done. Just let me know something. Thanks, Josh.

Here's a quick, easy trick -

Disconnect plug wires - pull front leading plug and turn engine over - you should hear three even compression sounds like choo-choo-choo. If you hear choo-nothing-nothing-choo-nothing-nothing = apex seal or choo-choo-nothing-choo-choo-nothing = corner seal. Then, replace that plug and pull the rear leading plug and repeat the test.

If you've got access to a regular compression tester, hook it up to the leading spark plug hole on each rotor and watch for three even pulses..

We did the compression test, 30-30-35 on the front rotar, and 50-50-60 on the back rotar. We put some marvel mystery oil in the carb to see if it would brake up some of the carbon in the engine. I was turning it over and heard a click. The engine just stopped turning over. One of the coils was sparking blue, then after that I heard the click. Can anybody tell me what happend?
Thanks, Josh.

So about how much am I looking at? How long does it usaully take?Do I have to supply all the parts you need to make this a perfect swap, do ya'll buy the parts and I pay for them? If I get a day off of work I will call and talk about it over the phone so it will mak eit easier. Hopefully we can get this done before march. I will keep in touch and will verify when I can and want it done if it is good for ya'll. Thanks, Josh.
