Katrina is moving away from Florida...
....****.
I'm under a "Mandatory Evacuation" right now, and it appears that it is going to hit just east of the Mississippi river. If it goes west of the mouth, we are really fucked.
As it sits now, if Katrina hits on it's projected path, we will experience storm surges of 9-12 + the height of the waves. Louisiana is not that high above sea level. Heh.
A couple of years ago, it was suggested that Louisiana's levees can't stand a Cat. 2 storm, much less a possible 4. A thing you really have to realize about Louisiana is the fact that every year, Louisiana sinks anywhere from 1/2 - 1". So, as years go on, and our levee systems aren't upgraded, small storms can **** us up. I mean, T.S. Cindy hit us pretty hardcore and destroyed a bunch of ****. THAT WAS 60MPH WINDS! We're talking about 135mph winds with this one.
Anyways, I have to get back to packing. To you guys around this area of the south, good luck to you all, and I hope your belongings and loved ones are safe and sound.
Later guys.
