I love my RX-7
Hey guys. I got side tracked of my poor RX-7. I moved into my apartment, and left my FD at the parents garage, so she's in safe keeping. I feel bad for leaving her there, getting all dusty and the passenger window motor went out, guess she's mad @ me. She still has trouble starting on the first start, starts right up on the second crank, everytime. I let her run for a bit. I was thinking of getting a crotch rocket, but, I just had a kid, and I get a little throttle happy @ times, so I'm guessing a bike wouldnt be the smartest investment, and when I was in the garage starting her up, I make trips to the ma's house every weekend to start her up and let her run for a few minutes, I decided I wanted to invest my money back into her instead of keeping her stock. Interior is flawless, I changed the headlights to the EVO-R flushmounts, got a nice carbonfiber scoot hood, good ol' Shine Auto rear diffuser, Shine Auto feed replica sides, and a nice JDM Attain Bumper that uses the stock turn signals that you've probably never seen, I'll have to upload some pics for you guys. I do believe the 5th gear syncro is going out, it grinds a lot when I put it into 5th, so I got a used transmission with good gears, still sitting there, not installed, power steering supply is ready to be installed, the one she has on her now whines a lot when I turn the wheel, and all in all, she's a beautiful car. I made sure to put her interior in tip top shape, map pockets and all... I'm just ready for some engine upgrades, I just dont know who to go to, or how to go about upgrading it first. Just due to the fact, since she sits in the garage ( I know, a shame) her tags are out, inspections out, and no insurance. Won't pass inspection, no cats, I bought it like that, and just didn't have the money at the time to get registration, and I'm sure I can just do liability on the car for insurance, seeing as how, I rarely ever drive her, and if I do, she doesnt see above 65.. thats if I'm on the highway.
*Sorry for the long post, just wanted to rant & vent to some other local rotor heads*
So what do you guys suggest I do? I'm not close to Garland for Rotary Performance, and I know they love to charge an arm and a leg, but I'm not sure who to trust to do quality work, and if I trust them with my car. I do know a compression test would be #1, to see if she could even handle any upgrades, I don't really wanna invest in the Twin Turbo set up, just due to the fact, I'd love to go single with the FD, and see around 500hp. It's a good number. I'm not one of those people who's gonna just want more and more power, I'd just like to see a really nice show car, with some really decent numbers.
I also need some different wheels, I bought some wheels a while back for $1200, and I regret buying them, just due to the fact, I want some really nice deep dish wheels. No, I wont have a wide body on it, so I'm not sure what off-sets are good for it, to make it look really clean.
Can see the rims a little, but.. Hope to hear from you guys soon.
