The website is down! Egads! Well Micaela and I aren't going to be able to make many more trips to the galleria area for a meet.

I had hoped that there'd be a little more diversity in the locations instead of every meet being a block away from each other.

gas money and some vehicle reliabilty issues have come up and the drive is gonna kill us.

But at least you guys got to see it painted!

The club had normal metings on weekends for several years, however people always seemed to have better things to do on the weekend, not to mentioned dads were always having to choose between kids and the wife or cars (9 outta 10 times the cars lose).

Additionally, 30-40 people can wear out their welcome pretty fast at a resturant on a Saturday. We had to continually choose new places because most places simply didn't want half their parking lot occupied for 3-4 hours with rotorheads milling about popping hoods.

Those are a couple of the reasons that weekday meets have succeeded. They bring some of the hardcore fans (not people looking for a way to waste a Saturday, no offense).

I think weekend meets are cool, (especially regionally) but weekday meets are one of the best moves we made to increase participation. I'd love to have a northside meet, but getting people from "everywhere" up 45 North's nether-regions on a weekday is a bit of a stretch. The club meets are generally situated centrally (vs. traffic flow) to suit where most people are working opposed to where people live. Also being located centrally accomidates many cross-town commuters as well.

I have in the past asked for volunteer help in coordinating events and meetings however very few have stepped up to the plate. If any of you guys wants to develop something of a northside meet on a regulars basis please shoot me a email and let's see what we can work out. Maybe we can make a monthly weekend meet or something if we can get some solid plans in effect.

OK first of all how is the southwest side of houston central??????
A bunch of people are form the woodlands, spring, tomball area...
At least we could alternate every once in a while north, central, south...so that all of us up north don't have to drive 45min to the other side of town.

Where do you live and work keith?

the best solution is hooters on 1960 and 45 since the parking lot is huge and it is right off of 45 with 1960 only takes like 20 minutes from downtown and after we spend most of the day looking at each others cars we can go and get some wings. OR someone from this site can get intought with someone from HOUSTON-IMPORTS and maybe when the whole city meets up and they are trying to do a northside meet, well maybe a bunch of us could show up and since most kids drive civics we could show them that if you want a real tuner car you have to start with something that was ment for power.......

well the way i see it if there is a problem it doesnt have to be a official club meeting we can just meet up those of us who want to do a northside meet and if the others want to come they can.

and i was thinkin hooters too we can meet on sat sept 2nd......any ideas on the time 6:00p?????

The "inner loop" area is fairly central if you consider the overall placement of active club members. Those who have opted to provide to the club their zip code (via the local forum) have helped shape the location of the meetings. We do have regular attendees from Katy, Clear Lake, Baytown, Freeport, Galveston and Pasadena as well as you Northside guys such as yourself from Tomball, Woodlands or Kingwood. So in those regards to that comment I do believe the meetings are "centrally placed" with good access to major highways.

Many of those who have spoke with me directly have also mentioned where they commute from/to. Now while I am no supercomputer and don't have any actual facts or figures in my head I can tell you that we have several members who work in the Medical Center, Galleria area or Downtown many of which do not live anywhere near those areas. As mentioned before the "typical" placement of the meetings are near major commuter corridors and are also positioned to take advantage of the opposite flow of traffic vs. fighting rush hour mobs.

Alternating the meeting location is a fine idea. Again, as I said if one of you guys is willing to step up and work with me that would be awesome I could use a solid contact person on the Northside to aid in setup and planning.

Remember there is no "problem", but you asked for comments or responses. I bring to the table 10 years of club history and experience. I have seen the club rise and fall over the years and can assure you that I hold it's best interests at heart.

Personally, I live and work in the South Loop area. Yes, my locale does make attending the "typical" meetings rather convienent for me most of the time. None of us should be penalized for where we live or work (everyone included). Howver, I think Winston the Wolf from Pulp Fiction said it well. "Sorry guys, move out of the sticks."

Damn, nobody will fire me! I am now on the Board for the Houston SCCA, The new course marshal for the same group, I have my own business, and I will probably have a new part time job here soon. On top of all of that, I am building my ITE car.
