Houston Help with 83 Bridgeport
I posted this in the first gen forum. It was suggested I post here too.
My son has a 1983 RX7 with a Bridgeport engine with less than 20K on the motor. It won't run. He can get it to idle, but nothing else. He has a fuel/air meter and it's all over the place. His Holley carb was spewing fuel out the sides and his step dad purchased an Edelbrock carb for it even though my son wanted a Weber. Now the car is just sitting and my son is upset.
Is there anyone in Houston that may be able to help him? He is a student and doesn't have a lot of money but we don't want handouts! We can pay to get it going. He called to the rotary shop in Dallas and they told him it would be a "few thousand dollars" just to test it. That seems high.
He's almost to the point of giving up. He said today he may just sell it and get something else. I'd hate that---he loves this car.
Any help appreciated.

If he wanted a Weber, he would need a twin setup due to the engine breathing ability. The European 4 cylinder engines of the 50-70s needed at lease two 40DCOEs.
I had a street port 12A in a 83 FB with a single 45DCOE and it was hard to tune mid-range acceleration due to the small fuel bowl size that is used for it. I had to modify
some of the stock parts.
The 4 barrel should be able to handle the fuel requirements. But I do not know 4 barrel carbs.
Does he have an adequate fuel pump for the power. Does he know the timing requirements for that porting?
Contact Racing Beat.
Other wise you Holley Intake Kit for 74-85 13B Bridge Port - Racing Beat
