Talking Hi Texas!

Hi everyone! I just had my job here in california cut so I have to chase my seniority out to Texas. So I will be moving in a couple weeks out to fossil creek ft worth, and was wondering if anyone lives around there and where some nice rotary shops are in the area? Would love to meet some new faces out there, and know where the cool hang out spots are. Thanks for any info and can't wait to meet new friends!

Welcome to the metroplex. I have only recently moved to the area myself, so I can't help too much with the hangouts, but we do have somewhat monthly meetings to hang out and cruise. The next one is on the 3rd. There is a post in this section about it. If you can't make that one, there will be another sometime soon. Good luck with the move. See you soon

You'll miss the meet on the 3rd most likely, but there is one 1st Saturday of every month in Irving (central-ish metroplex) with various weekly car meets around the area.

Thanks everyone, I haven't moved yet but I hopefully will be fully moved by the end of october. old school I am a dispatcher for BNSF Railway. My job on the extra board was cut out here so I have to chase my seniority out to Texas so I can hold my job. A small price to pay to keep my career, benefits, and paycheck. Besides it shouldn't be too bad considering its much cheaper out there than it is here. Hope to see you guys out there I'll let you guys know when I get out there.

BTW here is a pic of me from SSXII and a pic of my car:

did you work in the railroad yard in Colton???

Lemme ask you something.... you ever live in Texas??

I am a native Texan and lived in Cali for about 5 years...married a Cali girl....business went south in Cali...had to move back to Texas for employment... I was lucky to be able to go back to the company I worked for in Texas...

With that being said...the area of Texas I live in is a TOILET.... Flat, no mountains, shitty beaches, hot, humid, mosquitoes so bad you breath them in sometimes....hillbilly redneck, trailerpark, white trash that the highlight of their week is going to Walmart...

There are nicer parts of Texas....the gulf coast is not it!!

Keep an open mind, but don't expect California.. People are nicer here in Texas...that is a good thing!

My wife is getting her Chem Engineering degree from A&M...hopefully when she is done, we can both transfer back to Cali....Hopefully in two to three years Cali's economy will turn around and Cali's petrochemical business will be hiring again..

Ohhh....and I don't think Cali is all rosey....it has it's bad moments too!

Welcome to Texas and make the most of it!!

cool! btw old school that yard in colton is Union Pacific. BNSF yard is in san bernardino but the dispatching center is several miles away from there. Anyways yeah I know how Texas is, I lived there for a few months while I was in school there. So I know what to expect. But I don't think my girlfriend really has any idea yet. Hope to see you guys in a month or so.

I'm a native Texan and I love my state, but I spent about 6 years total in Cali when I was in the Navy. Going back there for SSXII made me remember how much I liked it there.
