Any Rotary head in the El Paso/ Ft Bliss area?
I am pcs'ing to Ft Bliss in a couple of weeks or so and like to see if there are any meets or club in the area. Can somebody throw in some feedback about the area?
I used to live in that area, before i was a rotary guy, i remember seeing some 7's out there, not many. it is a fairly dead area as far as rx-7 specific clubs go, you may find a few individuals out there who actually have some knowledge of the 7, just beware of those who do not and think they do.
I have a few buddies stationed at Ft. Bliss. I was actually driving down the road on post(ft. campbell) the other day and passed a silver RX-7 on a trailer. It had been in an accident and sold at an auction. I talked to the ppl transporting it and they said it was going to El Paso.
I live in that area right now. There is about may-be 35-75 Rotary guys here that I know of. There are two shops that specialize in Rotary performance that I would not trust with a potato gun and somebody that works out of his house that has a RX-3 that runs in the low 11's. We also have a guy by the name of Rick Syles(I think thats how you spell his last name) that has a 3rd Gen with a 20B in it. Its more of a race car and he only takes it out on special events. If you need any work done, I would go out of town to Las Cruces, NM. Its about 45min out of El Paso (Ft. Bliss). He did the modifications on my RX-4. Its running a carb turbo set up, with a custom exhaust manifold, that he made for me, and ran all the intercooler stuff. Let me know when you are down here and I can point you in the right direction. Ohh by the way (brio125) is right when he said there are no Rotary clubs at all in this area. People here are more worried about beating other Rotaries than being united and helping each other out, what a shame.
