What are the temps like out there in NM?

Watch out for heatsoak. You have an air intake temp gauge in your car?

its usually in the 60's at night. ya I have the pfc which tells me what my air temp is. plus its usually pretty busy so you have a while to let your car cool between runs. JFroTurbo I wont know if Im going for sure probably till around 7 lol. I guess i should have givin a week or so notice and made it an actual date. It all matters if chris (the bf) gets his nitrous back on his car after work or not. If I do go we'll probably head out there closer to 9 since its still pretty hot out untill than.

ok this is sad, i think that we need to pick another date later in the month. make a new thread, with date and everything. this thread still has 07/01 on it as the date. i do want to go but i would like a lot more people to go as well. that and i dont know if i will even run my car because of all the leaks and sound the car has been making as of late.

I went to the dyno drags at dyno edge friday night and dynoed 300.4rwhp my 1st pull I dynoed 280rwhp and my air/fuel was so rich it was off the chart.. so I leaned it out a little with the pfc and gained 20rwhp at my peak, but I gain 70rwhp at 5300rpm!!! it was crazy. I think with precise tuning it may get 310-315. But it was fun.

the numbers are in there ... 300 sounds right to me. (you might get 325 (maybe).

I'd not played with the PFC ... THe last engine I blew was due to detonation ....
lack of fuel -- or -- too hot on intake air; guess I'll never know.
But, The fuel pump got upgraded, the injectors are bigger, and then added the intercooler.

-- If you are goin to get all you can out of it, without going to far, I'd suggest you call Chris at rx7.com -- and ask him what he thinks the limit is -- he would know.

i didnt mess with anything except for the injector duty, when tom tuned it to fix that sputtering when i baught it from you he upped the injector duty, and with out a dyno to tune it on he must have thought it was running good (which it was) but really it was wayyyy rich, off the chart rich, and so I leaned it out to the "safe" zone while on the dyno and it just so happened to gain 20peak hp in the process. Besides that I dont think im going to "push it to the limits" i just want it to be running within the right numbers, which i think it is now. Thanks guys

I could be that the maps were set to the elevation in Dallas TX,
and it was way too rich "up" here ...

just a guess.

it was actually too lean once it came up from dallas, and tom set it to the best of his knowlage where it ran good which happened to be way to rich. It was best to tune it on a dyno w/ the sniffer n stuff so I could get an a/f ratio at diff rpms. I leaned it out a little from where tom had it but it needs some fine tuning with the maps that I dont know how to do.

that kind of tuning is an "art" ... and I think you are right to say
"It was best to tune it on a dyno w/ the sniffer n stuff" ...

All part of the fun -- I am glad you are digging into it like this ...
maybe you should become a gearhead -- you seem to lean toward it.

:~) S

PS: & I am glad to know the car went to the right owner .. :~) S
