Will my friend blow up in his T62-powered FD?

Sup guys. I've got a friend who's taking delivery of a bone stock 94 FD tomorrow. It's got 68K on the chasis and 6K on the new motor. Next week he is taking it to some shop in Brooklyn called KD Rotary. I know of the one in PA, but I guess this is another one in NYC? Anyway, he told me he was putting in a "T62" Garret, fluidyne racing radiator, downpipe-back Greddy exhaust, ACT clutch, 9lb flywheel, Type S BOV, HKS Boost control, and a couple other deals for what the shop says should put him around 400hp. My questions are these: What the hell is a T62? I've never heard of it, and he kinda said it was a custom job built with a bunch of Garret parts. Will the thing spool? I don't know much about the FD, but I do know that I'd build off of the twin turbos before I'd put in a big ol' turbo that would take awhile to get turning. Will it overheat? I know FDs have a problem with heat getting out; wil his car start to lift off of the ground with all that hot air being built up under the hood (slight joke). Ummm, he's not a great driver to begin with, will he even be able to drive this thing? Lastly, anyone running a setup like this? What's a avg. 1/4 time with a good driver? I was guessing mid to low 12's? I don't guys. Sorry this is a long post, just looking for some answers. I've always loved the FD3S and now that my bro's got one I don't want to see him ruin it or die or whatever. Later.

I assume he is referring to a 62-1. The power potential of this turbo is up there. It depends hugely on the type of porting, and where peak tq/power are made. This turbo will flow enough for around 480rwhp @ 20psi, assuming 85% IC efficiency, 22 deg C ambient, and peak tq (highest VE%) @ 7600 rpms. With this setup the spool will suffer, as peak power is made at around 8800 rpms.

With a less crazy port, it could support about 410-420rwhp @ 20psi, same specs as above, with peak tq @ 6500, and peak power @ 7800-8000. The trade-off would be a much quicker spool (smaller exhaust housing used).

If he can't drive, he will probably wrap his car around a tree. Depending on suspension setup, and traction, he could see low 11's, high 10's.

Just my .02

Well, he knows how to drive, just not drive I mean take him to an autocross and I'd prolly beat him on a bicylce. But, this is first manual that he's owned, and I guess he's alright with it, but not great. I was kinda just refering to driveability. However I agree; an 11 second car should only be in the hands of a few people, and I'm not sure that he's one of them. Thanx for the info though, I'll forward it along to him.

There is actually a "T62" where it utilizes the Tseries compressor housing and turbine section. The 62-1 design is designed like the 60-1.
