Will divided tang. housing make a difference?

I am going to be running a custom manifold, log style, that extends about 1 foot from the ports. the motor is a 13b-re, stock ports. Turbo I requested was .84 a/r with undivided tangenial housing because my manifold is going to be one fat pipe.

I got the turbo today, and all specs match, except for the exhaust housing - it's divided. Will this affect the exhaust flow for the log style manifold?

Not an expert but I think it would a little...I mean you have a large bubble of exhaust gasses running into an unnecessary wall in the middle of your turbo. A skinny wall..but still a wall.

.84 A/R only comes with divided exhaust housing. You could have gone .81 A/R for a collected (undivided) housing.

If your turbine housing is divided, I would go with a divided manifold. If not, then for better use of exhaust energy, sell your turbine housing for a .81 collected housing.

But in any case, it would still work. Just that your exhaust energy would not be used as efficiently, leading to later boost, slower boost response, probably more manifold pressure, etc...

Remember when I told you to get a .81 instead of the .84 because of this very reason?

cam,

yeah i know. you did. the shop owner i bought the turbo from said it was available in undivided. I've talked to him, and I'll see what can be done. I can either exchange it for .81 or .96, but I'd rather not deal with shipping it back and forth. Do you think divided housing will be be a problem?

Infini: I can't do divided manifold: car's not an rx7, no clearance for divided

I think for your application a undivided would be ideal but the .84 will work if you really must run it. Me?.. I'd trade it for a .81 and swallow the shipping cost. I'm guessing it will be about $25 to ship yours back and ship a new one to you, well worth it in the long run.

OR, I have a friend that may be looking for a .84.. What would you sell it for?

let me check with the seller to see what I can do with it, and I'll get back to you in a day or two with results.
