Thank you! That is exactly what I am talking about. A lot of dumb asses are knocking my idea about twin GT55s despite the fact that NOBODY has even tried it yet. All of these haters think that book knowledge and similar experience is worth something, while we regular guys all know that it means nothing unless you actually try it yourself to see how it works.

I use twin to4e's on my s5 extended port motor.I have only ever had twins on the motor,it's super responsive, revs to 11k without laying over, the turbos are super reliable(a nice side effect of twins).IMO at my boost pressure(34psi) it makes really good power.
Best time-7.21@173(yes 1/4 mile lol).
1600lbs with me in it.

what kind of power is your setup putting out?
could we see a dyno graph by any chance?
any pics of the engine?
thank you!

How much power am i making now?To be honest we don't know,we have only dynoed it once on a chassis dyno and it was in feb last year. With what i would call "small port" s5 ports, very rich tuneup and ex housings which were way too big it made 613hp at the tires on 25psi.We do all our tuning at the track.
Since it was dynoed i have gone bigger on the intake ports and upped the boost a fair wack.

What exhaust housings did you have that were too big and what do you have now? What size turbine wheels are you running? P trims?

Oh, now I get it. For example, twin GT55 turbos will spool quicker than a single GT28 turbo, period. Also, the whole point is to spool really fast to make huge power, which is why a large single turbo never makes more power than the stock twin turbos.
Now I am giong to install twin GT55s on my car so that I can beat out your car for the title of the fastest-spooling RX-7 in the world.

I ran a ball bearing T76 with a .68 a/r which would begin boost around 2200 revs (ign map wasn't too aggressive). With the 1.0 a/r hotside it wouldnt be into boost until much later. There was some give/take with that setup but i didn't need 9k rpm range.
Stop busting his ***** when you clearly dont have all the facts.

I didn't get the feeling that the OP's idea was "twin turbos spool faster" but if in his ramblings he did say that then I wouldn't disagree with anything you've said to him. I just didn't get the feeling his thoughts were along those lines. I'm going back to re-read his posts.

Nevermind, I'm with you... he is retarded.

no not at all, would have made for a lag-o-thon setup.

there is no scientific reason why twins should have less lag, earlier boost threshold than properly sized single....

if you read timemachines post at the beginning of the thread he mentions hcs twins that they have spooled super fast. Its just funny how people who have experienced the twins think they are super nice.

and then again, all major rotary drag racing records were put down by single turbo combos.... There is too much variables there.... Such twins are sitting on fairly long manifold...Right?? Apply same thing to single and it will be even better... then there is problem with sizing, like GT42 sized turbos on 500 whp combos...

Well the purpose of this turbo setup really is to have one turbo for every exhaust port and 2 3inch downpipes to a 4inch exhaust. So really its like having a 41/2 inch dp to a 4 inch exhaust. And more exhaust flow results in a faster spool rate.
