Who has gone single turbo with original motor?

how many miles on it when you did and is it still running today?
how much psi did you run through your motor.

Are you saying original motor as in not being rebuilt on stock ports???

I am pretty sure many have done it with success

I'v had a T04S on my unopened 76k mile stock block for a year and change now.. maybe 4000 miles (weekend car.) It sees 15-16 lbs of boost.. might have hit 17 a few times while tuning the boost controller. I need to finish cobbling together a compression tester (probably this weekend) because I'm seeing disturbingly low vacuum at idle (13 inHG while warm) and it has me concerned.. but it still pulls strong and runs fine.

If you keep a single at stock power levels and tuned properly I would imagine it would be easier on the engine than the twins (less heat, no violent transition..) It's the decision that you want more power than stock that shortens engine life, not your turbo choice.

I have 4 weeks on mine since the single turbo was installed and it's still running
Original stock motor with 42k miles. Does that count?

Original motor with an upgraded T78. 16psi of boost, well north of 400rwhp. Lasted a few months. From what I have been told by people in the know, anything north of 400rwhp will significantly shorten the life of a stock REW motor. Shoot for 350 to 380 and your odds will be much better. You MUST build a motor to handle over 400rwhp if you want it to last any significant period of time/mileage.

Well, I bought mine with 60k and now have 100. Not sure if the first motor or not. Maybe 3-4k miles on it with my 430hp single setup. I think the motor is on it way out. I need a compression test to verify though.
