Question whats a good turbo for a daily driven fd?

Im not sure what size single to get. i want to make no less than 400whp more would be nice but my car IS daily driven. of course the boost would be turned down most of the time. im looking for low 12-sec timeslips. any suggestions? i was thinking maybe a 60-1 or a 62-1 turbo? those too big? too small? i basically need just a turbo, header, wastegate, and a nice fuel system, i have the rest of the stuff to make it all work (ie. fmic, bov, engine management ect.) also what driveline parts would i need? i have an ACT 6-puck w/xtreme pressure plate, but thats about it. anything else i need? thanks for the help......

The 62-1 and the T04S are very similar, pretty much the same. I have a the XS T04S kit and daily drive my car also. I have no complaints.

There is more lag but even in LA traffic it is finel. If you want better responce you can alway opt for the Apex IHI RX6 kit or the ball bearing options on the 60-1 and 62-1.

RX6 is almost as responsive as the stock twins 15lbs by 3300 rpm easily 400hp.This turbo is very responsive and has got to be one of the most streetable kits out there.

This one is for sale I know this kit and its very clean.

The stock twins can get you into the 11's. There are people making 360-380 RWHP with them. A 60-1 can make the power you're looking for. I have a T-78, and I like it.

You may want to look into getting new axles. They tend to break with alot of launches at high power levels. A better rear may also be a good idea. The KAAZ unit is very good. If you change that you may as well go with 4.3 gears.

You should notice a significant boost in acceleration.

how come very few people use the t66? a lot like the t78 so i would think the t66 would be just a little less power but more streetabilty.

I think that many people get the T-78 because it comes with a kit. It also has a good reputation because RP says they use it. It is a very good turbo. I have one and I like it alot. The T-66 is a very good turbo. pluto makes over 500 RWHP with an undivided T-66 on a SFP manifold. If I hadn't of gone with the Greddy T-78 I probably would have gotten either a T-66 or T-70. The T-78 just happened to pop up at a good price. So I bought it.

Get the Y2K turbo...... Just kidding!! The IHI RX6 is a very good turbo, and the T-78 that I have is pretty drivable. To me it doesn't seem to lag that much. But it you don't want lag at all, go with the RX6. If tuned right and everything, it can make around 400 to 450 RWHP which is amazing!!Hope some of this helps

i was just at apexi website and it says the msrp for that rx6 kit is $4500

for that price might as well go with a more powerful turbo who cares about lag

You know I don't think the Apex BB turbo is really all that great-or at least as great as it is made out to be. I think the TO4 series of turbos are just as good. I've spent plenty of time looking at dyno sheets and actually looking at where various setups make power and how much power they make. I think a good T04 can make just as much power just as soon or sooner. These are just my opinions but look at many dyno sheets and see what you think.

I have experience with this RX6 it's a very reliable turbo and I was seeing 15Lbs@3300 it felt just as good as my stock setup as far as response is concerned.I was running mine at 18lbs. My friend is selling his for 3K it's very low miles 1500 or so and has all the little touches that the kit does not come with, such as dumppipe diverted back into downpipe; exhaust manifold, downpipe and turbo are wraped and all hardware is stainless you will be more than happy with this setup if your goal is to be a true daily driver. I can't say enough about how good this kit is as a true daily driver.I know three other local people that are running this setup and their cars all feel this good on responsiveness. It's just hard to beat for streetability,it also happens to be the same turbo subaru runs on their WRC car so what does that say about reliability and responsiveness.

Yeah, TO4's are very good. I've heard that the Apex turbo can't be rebuilt. That's a big minus.
