IMO, if money is an issue then I wouldn't do it and I would just keep saving.

I think thats what most are going to tell you

To go with a good single you are looking at about a base of 10,000$, maybe that should put things into perspective.

Yep! If you're stock, or even remotely close to stock right now, then you'll need a LOT of supporting mods to be able to pull that type of power on a single.

That's cheaper than most. Going from stock to single, I spent 9500 just on pfc, clutch/fly, fuel, IC, turbo kit, and exhaust. All together I spent about 12000 on parts, with a lot more on installation and tuning.

You guys that buy or send your car to a shop for build and tuning have it rough. My setup was under 1500 purely for the single upgrade, not counting money from selling off the twins and stuff. DIY its the only way...

^not sure how you did it for 1500. Do you have an upgraded clutch, exhaust, ecu, boost controller, rad, ignition, ic, etc.
You can single your car for pretty cheap if you get everything out of the for sale section, I just wanted to do everything right the first time with the best parts.
As far as taking it to a shop goes, I like how it keeps my car on the road instead of the garage.

I said purely for the single upgrade,

Already did the PFC, injectors, pump, clutch, ebc, ic, exhaust etc, all the above. Made my own manifold, downpipe, midpipe, IC tubing, Garrett 60-1 turbo used but new, new Tial 44 wg, oil fittings are cheap. I guess I can't imagine having anyone else work on my car. Just because you did it yourself does not me it would always be in the garage either, unless you never like to keep your setup the same ie me.

can you tig weld? do you want to make your own mani? do you want a new turbo or used?

if you want to make the mani yourself and buy a used turbo its not to expensive

on the cheap side you can look at rx7store. if you have more money look at aspec or turblown.

is your motor ported?

i have a 500r, a to4z will also get you there

you are going to need more than just the turbo setup if you plan on getting 500 hp... ic, fuel pump, standalone, dyno time, clutch, radiator, water or meth injection, beer, bigger injectors and more beer

If you can't stand the heat - get out of the fire.

There's someone everyday who asks the same question and the fact is there is no "answer" persay.

There's many turbos that can get you to that goal and many ways to skin the 450-500hp cat. If you read some of the stickied threads (of even one of the six recent "how do I get XXX hp, which turbo?" threads) you'll find a few of the options and then you have to make your mind up.

If you can find all these parts for free or dirt cheap like you've listed here apparently, you can probably get it going for cheap. Why would you let some comments detour you if you have all these hookups for parts?

My recomendations:

Aspec 500R
T04-R
T04-Z
GT4084

Where did you find all this stuff? Freegarbage.com Maybe you have some buttbuddy that will give you free parts for sexual favors , but most people are going to have to pay 700 for a used pfc, 400 for a clutch and another 3 for a lightweight fly, 6-700 for full exhaust, 100 for fuel pump, and more for an rx7 specific rad that fits nicely. Not sure why you put the hood on there, maybe you're one of those people who think carbon fiber makes things go faster
You should go buy a neon

I just sold my PFC for 400 w/o commander or datalogit. Haltech E6K's and sometimes an E6X can be had on ebay or here for 500. Exhaust can be made from SS mandrel bends and a decent can for 2-300. You can buy the Koyo for 315 on ebay. So some of his stuff isn't out there. The freebies don't normally happen though. There are always deals to be had, so don't put him down because he found stuff for cheap and you payed retail for everything.
