Which wastegate to use for T04s

I hear people are having boost creep with the standard Hks wastegate. I am running a 62-1 To4s on an fc. Should I just go with the racing version. I don't want to spend the extra money if I don't have to but I want what will work the best. Let me know what you guys know Thanks

HKS Standard S/B fine IMHO, I've run up to~400rwhp with no problem, also no problem keeping it to ~10 psi. My .02 Carl Byck

We've never had very good luck with anything under 40mm.
If you can't afford the 50mm race, try price out the 60mm GT?

I think your much better off with the 50mm racing unit. I haven't been able to hold boost with my standard version.

I plan to run 15-20 psi with my to4s. Which spring should i get? I think i am going to spend the money and just buy the racing wastegate. Anyone else have an opinion? BTW this is for a T2

so long as you are not trying to run less than 10 psi, any of the HKS units will work. If you can afford a better WG it is always a good investment. What boost controller will you be using? generally running a spring close to your target is best, an electronic boost controller will be able to roughly double the spring rate when it is maxed out. With the HKS log manifold for the FC, can the 50mm HKS wg fit? Or only the HKS standard wg?

I can't imagine how that little wastegate holds. I'm not discrediting you, but I couldn't hold crap with my 40mm hks. Though the actual outlet on the hks is only 32mm.

The only way I've been able to hold boost is without a wastegate so far (not to streetable however). I think the 50mm that's on it's way will solve my problems. If your going with the hks manifold, I would only recommend the 50mm unit, to make up for the lack good flow characteristics. It will save you money later when you realize the standard is to small.

the mainfold i got is for a 3rd gen. it is a tubular stainless mainfold with a wastegate runner of each exhaust runner, they T together into one flange. It will flow plenty. i will try to get pics. it almost looks like the obx one. way better quality though. If my mainfol flows real good do i really need the racegate. or can i go with the standard.. Thanks for the imput.

I've heard from people that the bigger the better... however I've seen 5 or 6 TO4S/R RX7's run superb with the 38mm Tial. I'm using a 40mm..

I am using the HKS racegate with my 62-1 on my FD. It is always better to go with the bigger W/G just in case.
