wastegate spring q ***please help**

when run my hks wastegate(w/ 9.7 spring) to the uim vacuum nipple....i see about 10lbs...but when i run it direct to the turbo....the wastegate opens at about 5-7 lbs
am i supposes to see less than the spring rate? is this normal?

i was todl from a good friend that u get quicker responce when u get vacuum from turbo...but it seems that the uim is mor accurate source.... i needto know

Its due to the pressure drop from the IC, what IC you running??
If you run 10psi at the manifold it will be about 13psi at the turbo to compensate.

Pressure drop and associated intake resistance. Your turbo is putting out 10 psi and your wastegate is opening, but by the time your 10 psi of boost reaches your UIM, your air from your turbo had to go through all your piping, your intercooler, and your intake manifold so your boost pressure dropped (hense the term {PRESSURE DROP}). If you put a boost gauge at the turbo, you'll see that your wastegate is opening correctly at 10 psi. Leave your gauge at the UIM and it'll see whats going into the engine (actual boost pressure). Now if you put your wastegate source back at the UIM and put your gauge at the turbo, you'll find that your getting more then 10 psi at the turbo, but still getting 10 psi at the UIM. Just put your boost source back at your UIM or leave it on the turbo and get a boost controller.

I'd like to also note, the air comming from the turbo is HOT, so when its cooled through your intercooler, it gains density but loses slight pressure.

just so your not confused, every thing you have is working like it should, although you do seem to have a little more pressure drop then you should, but its not because your boost source or wastegate, but a matter of your piping and or intercooler set up.

is my boost gauge at hte uim as accurate as my wastegate pressure comming from the turbo?
becuuse of the pressure drop is my boost guage still accurate?....thanksa again

Your boost gauge is accurate to what the uim has for pressure. Which is the best spot for it, since you need to be more concerned about what the motor is getting then what the turbo is making.
