wastegate 20b

Hello, I'm building me an 20b engine with a single turbo, my target is around 500-600 bhp..

What size on the wastegate should i use to get the exhaust away without any pikes at the boost?

hope anyone in here can give me an answer to my question.

spikes are caused from "the lack of wastegate".. in other words if you're wanting to run .01bar of boost then you'll need to have a wastegate big enough to flow that extra exhaust.

so say you're wanting to run 2bars of boost - you wont need a large wastegate because you wont be wasting much exhaust.

..something like that. correct me if i'm wrong.

I have a 60MM HKS wastegate. I haven't boosted the car yet, so I can't speak from experience, but the consensus is 60mm is necessary if you want keep the boost down to 10-12 psi. Hwnd is right; a bigger wastegate allows you to produce less power.

I assume you are talking with a 20b?

I can get excellent control down to 10psi with a single Tial 44 with a Gt42 on a fairly large port REW.... that is with the WG plumbed into the DP aswell. High/comp engine too

I see, but this is a 13b engine isn't it? i guess the 20b engine have a lot more exhaust to get rid of, so i dont think it's a bad choice to use a 60mm wastegate to controll the boost.

This is what i have bought for my engine..

manifold design plays a big role in how well a given wastegate is going to work in preventing boost creep

What gear was the run made at?
It sounds like the first run was made in 3rd?
Then the second one in 4th?

Also, is that the only air filter you're running?
Too small an air filter will also help choke the engine down.
I'd bet if you ran with no filter, it'll boost creep on you...

What's the deal with the the other dyno runs? I saw one where the power was at 750hp/637tq.
Nice car by the way.

This is a great wastegate. We have used it on many applications.
