Turbo Crapped Itself or what????
87 TURBO FC
I started this thread in the Single Turbo RX-7's section because i figured I would get a better response from you guys.
I think my Turbo Seals are shot.
Would it sound like a lawn mower and have a rough idle if the turbo seals crapped themselves?
It boosts fine. As far as manifold pressure is concerned i'm seeing up to 10lbs.
Would I still get manifold pressure up to 10lbs if the Turbo Seals are bad?
(not likley)
I feel no kick once I hit 4k.
Is it possible that the secondary injectors are not coming on?
Thanks for your advice. All I have modded is in my sig.

Ok better yet.. WHat are the signs that a turbo has gone bad?
Could a bad turbo (or bad turbo seals) still boost and give me 10lbs positive manifold pressure but I feel no kick?
^kinda oxymoraninc I know^

If your turbo seals are bad you would have hell of a lot of oil (blue ) smoke , if you examine it there should be oil in either one or both housings and also your intercooler pipes , you will also have to top up your engine oil more regularly, from my experience a leaking turbo makes a loud whine when it spools up due to contact between the housings and wheels caused by excessive wear and play and yes a leaking turbo can and will boost to 10 or any other psi until it eventually "locks Up". It sounds to me like you have a fairly large exhaust leak between the exh. manifold and the turbo inlet flanges resulting in the lack of response before 4k and the lawn mower sound , I had a leak like that and everything seemed ok but there was this loud "ticking" sound coming from the front of the car when driving ,I only heard it when I passed close to walls , buildings and other structures that the sound could reverberate off of . I discovered it after I started up in the morning when it s cold , I could hear it with the hood opened and also feel it with my hand before things heated up.
As for the rough idle , dont know but a leaking intake manifold gasket or vacuum hose would have that effect
