Turbine Fin Chipped?
Hi,
Can anyone explain the systoms of a chipped turbine fin? Was driving my FC on the highway, and was pushing about 220Km/hr, all was fine till I slowed down and heard some vaccum sound. Thought was the apex seal, but compression seems fine. So pulled the car to a gas station, and pop up the bonnet. As I rev there was this metal clinking sound from the turbo. Mine is a garrett TO4e. Can anyone provide me this info, whether is it the turbine fin? Or something else? And what problems may arise if I dun change it?
Thanks,
Seven

Just pull your intake pipe off the turbocharger and look at the fins, it should give you a pretty good idea of their condition without much work. Check the shaft play and other aspects while you're at it.

Compressor Fin Chipped.
Hi Guys,
Think it's my compressor fin that has chipped. Anyway, am thinking of fitting a T66 compressor wheel in. What are the steps to be taken to fit it into the TO4e housing? And what is the cost for a compressor wheel like that?
Thanks,
Seven

1)Take turbo to turbo repair place.
2)wait....
3)Go back to said turbo repair shop
4)Pay money
5)Drive away with your turbo
Seriously, unless you can balance something that spins around the 100Krpm mark, you should not do it yourself. (If that is what you were implying?)
