Yes, the 4.33 will make the first gear very short. The only way to compensate it is to go with taller tires. Something like 275/40/17.

Re: Tore Up My Diff Today !!

kazz doesn't come with the 4.33 gear. It's just the diff when you purchase it. If you want 4.3's you'll have to pay an extra $450? for the ring and pinion. What you do is you reuse your ring and pinion from your diff and swap out the torsen with the Kazz LSD.

Hello all,

Well, i'm in the process of install Jim's bushings in the rear of my car.. it's not as easy as some folks seem to think..especially when you don't have a lift.

Anyways, I pulled out the diff today, took out the plug to allow the oil to drain out when I noticed a chunk of a tooth stuck to the plug. It's not the crown wheel or pinion gear teeth but the two little ones on top when you pull the cover off ..whatever they're called. ...they're totally broken off on one side the other side is fine, but my mechanic told be it would not be a good idea to put it back as is ( duhhh). I don't understand why this happened, I wasn't dragging the car, I didn't hear any noises coming from the rear ..nothing. I did have a leaky axle seal for about 2 weeks but I kept the oil topped up all the time until I was able to get to it.

I can get a used diff just like mine ( 1993 R1 4.1 LSD) locally for $555.00 USD ..but I am thinking for that much I may as well go with the KAAZ 4.33 rear end for $800 (+200 shipping, duty and tax)=$1000 ?!?

I have driven in a car with one of these clutch type 4.33 units and it's kinda' freaky when you hear the clutches locking and grabbing while turning .. but if it will not shatter and can take abuse then I don't mind it. I may have to end up getting upgraded RP axles somewhere down the road.

I know I'd have to drive in a figure "8" to break it in but the main thing I was hoping you guys could tell me is, how will this 4.33 rear end affect my car. I should end up with less top end but faster acceleration and wouldn't it throw my speedo off too ? Is there any way to calibrate the speedo for the 4.33 rear end ???? I think 1st gear is really short, will this make it seem even shorter?

I'd appreciate any advice on the subject as I'm lost when it comes to gearing and stuff like this..well..more lost than normal

What about the shims needed for the 4.33 ??

Thanks,

Pluto is right, the Kaaz doesn't comes with the ring and pinion. I just purchased the ring and pinion, which cost $520 and the Kaaz LSD with the Powertrain Oil came out to $850. The total for both is $1370. Here are the pics https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=107067

If you want a used LSD off my '93 RX-7, I'll sell to you for a cheaper price than the one that was offered to you. The LSD off my FD is mint, I never had any problems.
