TO4R Owners..... what boost levels do you run

Hi guys, couple of questions from new zealand.

My 97 rz rx7 has finally arrived from japan... Has a HKS TO4R single turbo, blitz fmic, cusco susp, hks f con v pro computer, wastegate, r magic exhaust, blitz sbc, twin plate clutch etc.....

Took it for a spin and the boost is set at 1.04 bar max ( 15 psi) and the shift light is set at quite low rev range changes.

Is very quick but I am keen to get this into low 11 territory and eventually a 10. I think my biggest advantage is the suspension set up is awesome and there a pretty much brand new 275/40 Nitto 555 extreme drag radial on the rear!!!!!

What boost do you guys with TO4R's run and what power levels and 1/4 mile times are you pulling?

Thanks in advance

I know of a few guys in Okinawa that are running anywhere from 1.2 to 1.4 BAR on their T04R setups. I hope that helps some. Laterz.

It sounds like you have no idea what boost the car was tuned to. I wouldn't turn up the boost unless I hooked up a wideband. Unless you have access to an HKS shop, you are not going to be able to tune you're computer. What injectors are you running? A lot of these cars from Japan have sub injs. If you are running stock inj. you are driving a ticking time bomb.

Hey guys, thanks for your thoughts. are there not many fd drivers in the states with the to4r setup?

IGY you are correct, there is a lot i haven't found out yet about the car, what injectors it runs, port ??, etc. I am overseas at the moment, only saw the car over the weekend so couldn't get access to dyno

One of the tuning shops in auckland is getting the software for tuning the hks computers but I may go with either an apexi power fc, or a Microtech from aussie with a preloaded base map from a car with identical set up to mine. Plenty of time too make an informed choice.

I'm not going to fiddle with the car until I know exactly what has been done. The car has been setup too well and as it has only done 45'000kms I get the feeling the it may have been the previous owners pride and joy. Immaculate condition...

Am hoping to hear from more owners with it... There must be some great single turbo's out there if people are getting better results with others. I couldn't believe for such a big turbo the boost is so smooth and powerful from such low boost levels. I had expected there to be substantial lag.

What is better???????

Cheers Guys

I'm running 1-1.5 bar, depending..

just make sure your fuel + ignition system is in order, the turbo + car combination will bring you much joy.

Thanks workS2r, have you had your car dynoed? Any quarter mile times, very interested to see what to4r users are finding works for them. Am I correct in saying that it is after 1 bar that they start making big power?

Cheers

Yeah, after 1Bar, the numbers do skyrocket, or so it seems anyways..

I hit 438 RWHP at 1bar.. Still waiting to dyno at 1.5, but am awaiting some tuning (after my car gets return from repairs of getting stolen..)
