Are these FMIC's and good
I found quite a few of them on Ebay. I know some people are going to say that you get what you pay for but this seems pretty damn reasonable. I also know that brackets and piping like that aren't included but im not too worried about stuff like that. I don't think it would be too hard to fab something up. Let me know what you guys think. I met a couple of guys today at a drift session and one of them has a welding shop and I have seen some of the work that he does and its good. So he said he was more than happy to give me a hand with whatever kind of brackets I need.

I can't speak for those but there are some very decent IC's for very low prices becoming availible. I sell some that are very impressive for the money and have used them on some very high HP cars. They are bar and plate, they have very good internal and external fins for good heat transfer and low pressure drop... I can also get just the core's if you are into fabricating your own end tanks...

This isn't a commentary on the IC, but.... quick, someone shoot it before any children see it!

Bought this one, great buy for the money IMO.
here is a photo of the inside cooling fins. Nothing like my Trust intercooler but one of the better ones on e-bay in the lower price range.

Whats funny is that I know who both the cars owners are in the "example" pictures. And neither of them use that intercooler. Its funny when people rip off pictures and dont expect anyone to know... especially car pictures.

Thanks Alex... If any one from the rx7 forum buy's one of my IC's and is unhappy with the quality, simply return it and I will refund your money. I have never had anyone complain about the quality.

I think that was "who's cars are they using for the pics?" and not "who cares whose cars they are using for the pics".
But that was my point about the tube&fin versus bar&plate pics. Both construction types can be good; that wasn't the issue. But it means they are using pictures that are not the product you are getting, which is fishy. Or at least indicative of a "cash in on ricers, who cares about the product" attitude on the part of the seller. Pics of cars that aren't using the product adds to the fishyness.

if you had a choice, which is better?

In my opinion, the perfect bar and plate IC is better than the perfect tube and fin IC. But that doesn't really matter since the differences that result from other issues (sizing, end tank design, etc.) play a bigger role in the quality of an IC than the core construction.

Well screw it,
I am going to get one of these cores. I found some aluminum piping kits on Ebay that come with (6) 90's and six couplings. I sat down and took some measurements on my car and I think I can get the piping down with what is included in this kit. I think I am going to use a 2.5" to 2.75" coupling from the turbo to 2.75" piping. Run the 2.75" to the intercooler and use a 2.75" to 3" coupling. And just the opposite from the intercooler to a greddy elbow except the coupling will be a non-transition 2.75" coupling.
Here is my total list
(1) greddy elbow (rx7store) $115.00
(1) 24" X 12" X 3" intercooler $185.00
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...978686550&rd=1
(1) piping kit consisting of" $115.00
- (6) 90's
- (6) couplings
- (12) clamps
here is the link
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...978814376&rd=1
(2) 2.75" to 3" transition couplings (atpturbo.com) $35.00
(1) Taylor Vertex Battery relocation kit (summit) $50.00
(1) Optima Red Top (ebay) $86.00
Total: $586.00
I'm just going to take a chance and do it. Right now it's in my price range. I can't even get a name brand core for this price.
I'll document it all for you out there who are in my position and want an affordable FMIC.
