Is there a T-88 B.B. kit

I have a ported T-88 Greddy kit. I would like it too spool a bit quicker. I already have the basics (9.5 flywheel, pullies, built engine, etc. etc.).

Is there a ball bering kit for the turbo?
If so who sells it and what is the retail?
It would be cool also if there were a way to convert it so that it is water cooled too.

Right now it is dynoing at 240hp @4500 rpm -> 498hp @8500rpm. I would be a whole lot cooler to see some power between 3800-4000rpm.

Thanks!

Nick

What you are looking for is a completely different turbo, I would say you start looking at other turbos and other options. You may even be able to fit a few turbos on your current manifold with little to no modification.

Did you buy the vehicle with the kit on the car or did you buy the kit and install it on the car? It it's the later what did you expect, in my opinion this turbo has no right being on an RX-7 unless the vehicle is a full out drag machine.

I won't get started on my anti GReddy turbo kit spiel, but if I were you I would be looking at some Garrett turbos to replace the T-88. Your standard bearing, water cooled options include the T04S/R T60-1, T62. If you want to spend the money and want quicker spool look into the GT35R, GT40R and GT42R setup. There is a group buy going on for some of those turbos going on now, include a twin set using the Disco Potato turbos.

The kit was installed by the previous owner.

Other turbos are good but, I don't know of any that fit on my manifold. Does anyone know what other turbos will bolt up to all of the T-88 Greddy kit stuff with out me having to custom fabricate stuff.

Just out of curiousity, what is the fastest spooling turbo that will make aroiund 500whp on pump gas? What RPM (assume well tuned, etc.) would one start to see boost and where would peak boost be reached?

What kinda port job are you looking at too? Cause no stock port engine can reach 500whp on pump gas. 400 yes, 500 no

The engine is a crate engine that was built from the ground up using 100% new parts. It has ceramic apex seals, big intake and exhaust ports, and is ballanced so that it can rev to 9K w/o any issues. Basically the best you can get for around $7,000.00. There are almost no stock parts left on the engine.

GT40R is what you seek. If you used water injection it should get you close to 500 rwhp on pump. Probably 480-500 rhwp@20 psi or so on pump gas and good tuning.
A lot of variables come into play however and you've got to pay to play.

DAMN You may have to relocate your engine so you can run that turbo in the center and then strap the engine to the side of it
