NOW your talking!

When I went from a T4 to a real T6 1.32 turbo . what a difference, never looked back.

yeah, that bigger hotside really has me intrigued!
Bet it spools pretty fast huh?
Thinking about a S475 with a 1.32 hotside.
Is that what you run?

That turbo with a 80mm front wheel.

Everyone at the track says my car does not sound constipated and wants more tacos.

Huge difference between 700hp T4 and 700hp with a T6 turbo. Talking hot side.

Would you mind going into a bit more detail on this?

I've only tuned one with that hotside, and it was really only fun for drag racing.

I'm curious if Sleeper7 has similar response on his?

Hard to explain but is what I have seen with a 700hp dyno T4 turbo is when it's goes on the track the back pressure increases from the 1/8 to the 1/4 mile. So your 700hp is recirculating hot exhaust back through the motor causing a decrease in HP. But with a larger T6 with a larger exhaust wheel will allow "all" the exhaust out of the motor. Now your motor is seeing better/cleaner air and fuel.

Seen guys with T4 turbos make 700hp but the increase in hp from 25psi to 30 psi is not as big as from 20psi to 25psi. Then they push is to 35psi to get there desired HP. That turbo is running out of steam and really just recirculating/producing hot air. Now there are guys out there making great power with a T4 turbo but dont know what exhaust wheel or other factors that allow for a solid 700hp.

just my opinion.

Here's some info on a 9.6 at 152mph pass

1st gear went to 9500 at 31psi

2nd gear
start rpm was 7700 at 27psi
by 8000rpm boost was at 30
shift at 9800

3rd gear
start rpm was 7500 at 25 psi
by 8170 rpm boost was 30 psi
shift at 9400

4th gear
start rpms was 7700 at 27 psi
by 7900 boost was at 30psi
shift at 9200

5th gear
start rpms was 7100 at 25 psi
by 7300 rpms boost was 30psi.

I think with the larger turbo, and 60mm waste gate I can hold the gate closed longer which will build boost faster. I'm not having to bleed off power early to maintain boost as with a smaller turbo and gate.

RxTASY57,

Can you weld/Tig? If so make yours like I did, I ordered a kit from Gato with the collector already made. You just have cut up & weld up from the collect back to the engine flange.

Might be a profitable venture since nobody else does it.

Bruce,

We don't make T6 FC manifolds at the moment. Demand is too low.

Doubt the demand will ever increase.
Don't you peace mill (don't keep an inventory) all your manifolds anyway?

We had another T6 s475 FD on the dyno today. The dyno was dynopak and the ramp rate was adjustable. The dyno owner said he could slow the dyno down if we wanted to get more datalog information. I think we had the ramp rate at 650rpms to try and simulate the ramp rate on the track.

rx7 9 7 at 152mph - YouTube

was doing some testing with different tires the other night. Launch is 1.66.
The first few gears are taken to 9500rpms. you can hear the motor, sounds like it's on a Sunday cruise.
