That is actually a To4R, a to4Z is a ball bearing To4R. That compressor mated to a T4 1.15 P trim will get to 500rwhp around 20psi. Make sure you get a 360 thrust bearing upgrade..

That is too cheap to be legitimate brand new from a shop. The cheapest legitimate new (from an Authorized Garrett dealer) I've found is $950 + shipping for T04R

TX Mikesturbo...305

OP, I was able to reach Hong from Mikes turbo . I asked about the turbo you posted, Using Ebay (ask seller ??) here's the info he sent me. Hope this helps! But I've never heard of a To4ZR ,I'm sure other members will know WAY more. Here is Hong's reply.. Dear 1TxRx7

hello,

the bb one is a TO4ZR and to4z is non-ball bearing. ball bearing unit is $1400.00 and this journal bearing one does have the 360 degree thrust bearing.

thanks
Hong

My brother has bought his last 3 turbos from them , his supra is a beast. And they are the only company he'll use in MIA.. Best Regards 1Tx.

That doesnt make much sense, a TO4Z IS a ball bearing version of a TO4R,
as previously stated.

Hong message ,copied and pasted. Never touched. Feel free to drop them a line, maybe safer to stick with our forum venders.. I'm no way affiliated , with this company . Only posting what was sent to me. Use your best judgement , it's your hard earned $$$..

just throwing this out there ...

either Hong sucks at typing, he's trying to deceive/confuse or he simply doesn't know what he's saying - either way, he's flat-out wrong and his associated business is not gaining any favors from this thread thus far. as stated before, the T04Z is the ball-bearing version of the T04R. i've researched this particular turbo enough to know that much.

Always lots of confusion on T04Z turbo.

As I understood it HKS engineered, named and made the T04Z turbo first by mixing existing Garret parts as well as proprietary HKS parts.

Garret jumped on the bandwagon by cobbling up something really close to the original HKS specifications but using off the shelf Garret parts and called it a Garret T04Z.

They or anyone with Garret parts can of course put the same turbo together with a plain bearing center and call it a non ball bearing Garret T04Z just as easily.

The T04Z/T04ZR attempt at naming is from trying to name Garret turbos by their own nomenclature from the GT line of turbo which it seems Garret has given up on already anyways since they started making more varied GT turbos than their initial GT line up offering.
