Arrow T04S Dyno Results

Hello all,

I finally had a chance to scan in my dyno and write something about it on my page:

Brian, nice numbers!!! Just curious, why didn't you crank up the boost a little more?? I saw you are using the RP fuel pump. I know on my car, which at the time was almost identical to your setup (except for 850 primaries), that I had to go with a larger fuel pump. I also noticed that you did your own engine port. Do you consider it to be a mild or fairly aggresive port?

Also, did you note your intake temps. I see it was extremely hot that day. I am curious to see if your ic kept up with those temps or not. I was extremely suprised to see how well the M2 medium did with my car on the dyno.

One last question. Why did you stop the dyno at 7100?

Ryan

Ryan (hope I remembered your name right),

I didn't crank up the boost because... I dunno... My target was 400 and it was a damn hot day. I'm not building a drag car, just something fun on the street

I did my own port (crazy huh?) and I'd say it's mild to medium. Definitely not crazy. I didn't spend a whole lot of time polishing every inch of the intake runners either. LAZY.

Dave stopped once we had reached peak I guess... He's the expert on tuning. The intake temps were creeping up pretty damn high at some points, but we did have the car in the dyno area for probalby 4 hours, so I guess that's to be expected. On the street, it does very well even on 95-100 degree days.

Makes perfect sense, I guess I am always thinking more power, not just smart reliable streetable power. The way I have my car now, I have to run AVgas 100% of the time, so maybe your setup is a little friendlier than mine, at least when my car is not in 1,001 pieces .

Glad to see your ic was keeping up with the day. I had always thought that would limit my hp, but now here are two people that have made very good hp results with the unit. Too bad the impound lot stole mine.

Again congrats with your numbers and hope everything keeps going well with your car.

What!? First some one steals your car and then the I/C got stolen while it's in the impound lot??

You think that is bad, look at the current condition of my car. It is on the last page of the thread in the NW forum.
Very depressing.

Sorry Brian, didn't mean for this to be part of your thread.

The T04S seems like a very nice complete kit for 380-420 rwhp for a street car.

I am pretty happy with the car as it stands now. My 'to-do' list is: new shocks, wider tires, shorter 5th gear, roll bar+harnesses, and that's about it.

As for the character of the engine... Aside from a HUGE amount of noise when the wastegate opens (dumps to atmosphere), it sounds like most modded 3rd gens just cruising around. Sounds kinda mean in that chainsaw way that rotaries sound

When you are under wide open throttle, the wastegate opens and you don't hear anything but just a tremendous amount of noise. Not turbo noise, just open exhaust rotary noise. BRRAAAAAAAAAAA!

It accelerates very smoothly, and aside from the noise, someone might think that it was just a very fast stock car. No backfiring, no hesitation, no bucking... just goes. This could be a daily driver in every way except for the pressure plate and clutch (ACT) which are kind of annoying in traffic with the lightweight flywheel. I do not drive this car every day though...

I find that for just cruising around, normal revs are fine (~3000), but if you are feeling spirited or a competitor may be lurking nearby, it is better to have about 4000 showing because there is no lag from there. Lag isn't too bad from 3K either, but you don't get that instant "YOUR CAR IS SLOW" effect when you blow by someone

My best figure of the day was 393 at 14 PSI. I could turn the boost up later if I really wanted to, but I see no need for that now. I'll enjoy it as it stands. Hopefully it will last a good while!

If you're ever near DC like at a RX-7 meet or something (missed you at Westminster!), we could go for a spin! Hehee!

My next project that I'm trying to get going is a 20B in an FD. I hope to start on that this winter. My main problem right now is that I haven't found a nice 3rd gen with a blown engine for a good price to use for the chassis. Another problem is that I work for Worldcom. 'Nuff said!

Regards,
Brian

Great numbers Wargasm! It makes me feel so good to see another happy single FD guy, as I'm about to become one myself!
