T-78 - Too tough on engine?

With all the data i'm getting from people here, especially Gmonson(thank you), i'm pretty confident that i'll be going with the T-78. I've heard that it is too rough on the block though(a new block every 2 years). Is that true? Even at relatively low boost and a main cat.?
People with T-78's, how long have your engines been lasting on average?
Thanks

I think you've misunderstood some of the info passed your way. With the correct setup, a T78 would be more reliable than the stock configuration.

the T78 is a very nice but expensive unit. Where did you hear your information though? The only thing I heard about the T78 and T88 turbos is that you have to modify part of the enginve to make it fit. (intake manifold or something i forgot someone please shed some light on this). Also you can't run a main cat with the greddy turbo because the turbo goes where the airpump is and you need an airpump to have a cat or else you will damage the cat so you have to run a midpipe.

Where do you guys get your info???? You won't need to mod anything to make the Greddy kit fit. Its probably one of the nicest kits out there. And you can run a cat. Yes, you have to delete your airpump so you cap the side of your cat. Big deal. Or just get a high flow cat and you won't damage anything. The kit comes with its own dp.

ErnieT - I think he just meant a stock cat will clog pretty fast without the airpump to heat it up and burn everything off. I'd imagine it would last a couple years though if you have decent tuning.

The main downside is I would imagine a T78 with the stock cat is going to create some terrible lag and spool times but hey, who knows maybe I'm wrong....its happened pleanty of times before haha

Actually you do have to do some minor modifications. The lower intake manifold will rub up against the downpipe so you have 2 choices. You either shave the lower intake manifold to get the downpipe to fit or you bang the crap outta. This coming from my install of a Greddy T78 kit. The turbo will also rub up against the AC and heat hoses running along the passenger side so you'll have to relocate those too.

I want to pass emmissions, so I would really like to run a high flow cat. . I know there is one person on the forum running a T-78 with a catalitic converter making 400 rwhp, I don't know who though. He posted a thread not too long ago. I just don't know if it's high flow.

BTW
You really think lag will be an issue with a high flow, or just with a stock cat?
