Doing a build for my REW Swapped FC.
Got a Streetported motor out of a crashed FD. Going single turbo.
Basically narrowed it down to
s200sx 8070 : BorgWarner S200SX 8070 Turbo - Full-Race.com
and the s300sx s360, 8375 : BorgWarner S300SX 8375 Turbo S360 - Full-Race.com
Looking for a quick spooling and good transient response turbo.
Both come with T4 .91 AR hot sides.
From what I can tell on the compressor maps, the s200 might be too small of a compressor requiring larger pressures in order to get around 350-400hp. the s360 seems to be like the gt35r, but alot cheaper
My build is going to be limited by ~400-450hp. (Fuel/injectors I have also not wanting to break anything :P)
Any insight on these two turbos would be great.

2nd option would be better.
Patman should chime in on this as he ran the 200sx for awhile. Personally, I think on a ported rew, 300sx would be my choice of the two. I'm a fan of precision's billet series turbos tho...
i think the s300sx FMW would give you what your looking for and the ability to push your fuel system with a turbo that flows better numbers.
Me personally i went with a s366 on a stock motor for higher power lower boost at the cost of lag, its going to be a street car... turbo lag gives me more rpm to resist tipping in lol

as you can see the two BW turbos, the 272 (which has a straight outflow port) and the 280 (90 degree outflow port) are very similar w re to the compressor area but are
very different
as to turbine wheel area.
this greatly favors the BW when the app is a rotary engine as it takes 30% more air to make equivalent piston power. the rotary needs a larger hotside.
the BW will decrease back pressure and residual heat.
i suggest the 1.00 hotside and i like the 3 inch V band option. my 177283 came w a funky 4.21 inch V band and a reducer that looked like it was built by Mickey Mouse... (sorry Mickey).
how does the big hotside work? my 177283 has the same turbine wheel along w the 1.00 housing and my EGTs at 8600 and 514 hp were a steady 1550. low EGTs help everything.
the 272/280 turbos can make approx 470 at 20 PSI properly tuned out.
considering the price they are a win win v the stock Garrett GT3582r

for that airflow level an outstanding combination i used on a pro Drift car was the S300SX turbine wheel with the S200SX compressor! Justin pawlak (now sponsored by Ford and Falken) we had originally tried a twinscroll 30R and it kept melting the plastic bearing and even cracked/melted the turbine housings. We went to this twinscroll BW and powerband improved drastically with faster spool and more top end plus lower EGT, less backpressure and far better durability (no failures). win/win

recently there was an interesting comparison of the s366 vs efr9180 on a 2.5L sti- i can dig up the link if youre interested, its amazing to see a 94lb/min compressor outspooling an 80 lb/min compressor by 400-500rpm in 3rd gear (9180s are barely becoming available but cool to see some results trickling out nonetheless)
