When i rev my FD quickly i hear a noise similar to a very fast rattling sound coming from my turbo. I can only hear it when standing infront of it. The turbo(gt35r) is about 4 months old from rx7store. There is very very little shaft play(feels like it did when new). All fins are intact. No oil coming through intake side. And there is oil flowing into the turbo. It spools very quickly and still makes good power. I heard a similar noise from the stock twins before i pulled 'em off. Their oil lines were dried though. Any thoughts or opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanx

 

hard to tell without being there to hear it, can you load up a sound/video clip?

 

if its truly "rattling" your hearing at idle i bet the turbo is shot. Pull off the turbo and inspect the turbo without the Turbine and Compressor cover

 

i don't hear any noise at idle but only when i rev quickly. if i bring the rpm's up gradually there is no rattling sound...I'm trying to upload a video but its not letting me. i'll keep trying. thanx for the input.

 

If it is truly rattling, then there is most likely wheel rub. When you checked shaft play, did you check both the compressor and turbine side?

 

I only checked compressor side. guess i'll have to find time to pull it.
