Someone design an ignition alternative for me.. Please!

I am currently awaiting install of a new fuel system, haltec , and a few other things for my t78 fd. I have been suggested by numerous people that the HKS twin-power system is the way to go as far as ignition is concerned. Unfortuenately, this far down the line in my project I am becoming shorter and shorter on funds.

Basically, everything has been covered on my car in regards to mechanical performance except ignition. I have noticed many people are running an MSD alternative instead of running the hks twin power.

The engine is currently streetported, but I may even half bridge port it for a little extra kick on the top end. Meaning, I want to provide the car with enough ignition support to maintain the power that is able to be made on race gas.

Can someone help me out and tell me exactly what to order instead of the HKS twin-power? Even if I ebay all the items and save only $70 bucks, I'd still be a happy camper. My mechanic is compitent enough for either setup so that is not of a concern.

Thanks a lot to all those in advance. Bradley

Just get an MSD6a and put that on your leading....you'll be good to go. Also, I'd get it from a store rather than EBAY cause you never know what your getting on ebay and this is going to be a critical peice for your car. You can pick them up from Jegs, Summit, ect for around $150.

Only one is needed? For some reason I thought it might be 1 per coil. In fact, that was pretty much my only foggy area of knowledge.

Fd has 3 coils, 2 individual coils for trailing and a single coil for both leading

AEM and XS Engineering has nice alternatives to the HKS unit. The AEM is like $325 and the XS is $265.

I use a pair of 6A boxes on my leading plugs , I also use two separate coils (T11 trailing coils) , I have run a/f ratios lower than 10.5 : 1 at 21 psi and 9000rpm with a lot of water being injected (exhaust temp dropped from 1400 deg F to 1000 ) and had absolutely NO Ignition BREAK UP !!
