Some questions.
hey,
im pretty new to RX7s. i gained my interest in the RX7 FD3S last year and every time i look at it it calls out my name, so i said **** it and decided to save up. if i dont **** up, in 1-1/2 years i should be able to buy a used RX7 (planning to get one from RX7.com).
as i need to gain more intel based on rotarys and RX7 and study in the mean time, why not start with the basic of basics...
how can i tell if the RX7 FD3S is single or twin turbo?
whats the major difference between twin and single turbo based on performance? or is it the same as any other twin turbo (turbo lag)?
thanks!

Every FD has a twin sequential turbo system from the factory. There were no non-turbos, and no single turbos. All FDs left the dealer with twin turbos.
Sometimes people remove the twin turbo system and replace it with a big single turbo to make more power.

The majority of your questions can be answered with the newbie threads on the top of the 3rd gen section but for the most part people switch to a single turbo because 1) it drops underhood temps 2) gets rid of rats next 3) bling factor and its alot less to troubleshoot with boost problems etc.. There are singles of all different sizes. Some give you the spool of the twins while others lag to 5k and come on like crazy. The twins will give you more "streetable" power if you drive around sub 4k. Otherwise a good single some people will refer to as a "reliability" mod. Realize though that supporting a single isnt cheap. You need to go standalone i believe is the only way, new fuel system, and youll want bigger rims/tires and suspension/brakes to control the new power. Although its not needed. If you have any questions just pm me and ill try to answer. Otherwise message RETed, goodfellafd3s, rynberg they know alot as well. Both Rynberg and goodfella both use twins still i believe but goodfella is runnin BNR twins so you can talk to him about those if ya want. Lata.
