Slipping Exedy Hyper Single Clutch?

Slipping Exedy Hyper Single Clutch?
Has anyone had any issues with your Exedy hyper single clutch slipping due to it not being able to keep up with your boost curve. I'm only putting down 300 rwtrq, but since my boost comes in so early in the rpm band my clutch is slipping badly. I have less than 4K miles on the clutch with only three competition events done so far.
I will be taking the transmission out to inspect the clutch for any noticeable wear on clutch disc, but willing to bet I'm near the 4.6 mm clutch thickness when it was new.
I guess I will be upgrading soon. Either the Twin cerametallic or the twin carbon.
Anybody want to buy a slightly used Exedy Hyper single clutch? Anybody have a low mileage twin disk clutch assembly for sale?
Thanks,
Adam

My car makes about 310 rwtq and I've had no problems with my ACT clutch. I got the xtreme pp with performance full faced disc. I'd go with a xtreme pp and puck disc if you track your car a decent amount. I've had the Exedy twin plate as well and I thought the engagement was too harsh. It felt like it would eventually beat the transmission to death. Plus you will save a ton of cash$$$.

What kind of break in did you do on the clutch?

I was gentle on it during break in, i.e normal city driving, mainly due to short leash of breaking in the previous motor.
I changed my wg settings to where I'm only seeing 12 psi. I'm still experiencing slip, but it's inconsistent now. At times it would grip, grip-slip-grip-slip and just slip once I hit boost. I'm thinking some debris or oil has or is getting into the clutch plate face. It could also be due to temperature, but I highly doubt it.
I'm jacking the car up now to inspect the clutch to see if theres any visible oil or any other signs that cause this.
Works, no offense, but I hate ACT clutches.

I'm not a huge fan of the ACT stuff as well, some of their stuff works good but there are better options for the lower power levels. We used the hyper singles here on a few cars and loved them. The twin plates are nice units as well. I would also look into OS stuff. They make a nice race proven product.

i ran an Exedy Hyper Single and somewhere, probably around 320+ rwtorque it slipped, once. i pulled it immediately to find virtually no wear. i sold it to someone who was making less Tq.
i have run the Exedy Twin cerametallic for two years and LOVE it. it is pleasant to drive and will hold pretty much anything you throw at it.
i do not drag race and am pretty easy on my clutches.

Thanks for the input guys.
Howard, I think that's what happened to me, with the improved boost response I made more torque, which in turn caused the slipping.
I jacked the car up and inspected each plate ear and it looks like there is slightly less than 0.5mm of pad material on each side.
So, yeah, I guess I will be upgrading.
On a side note I'm glad I jack the car up. It needed a nut & bolt check as well and I found a small fuel leak at my fuel filter.

Don't know yet, but it will be a twin disk. Metalic or Carbon is dependent of funds and final goals. In order for me to be able to go to Seven Stock I going to have to order a replacement disk and run with what I got until I have the funds to upgrade later this year.
